Achieving Healthy Weight Loss with Home Fitness Centres

Want to lose weight but don't have time to go to a gym? Can you achieve healthy weight loss from the comfort of your own home? Well, a home fitness centre may be the ideal answer to your problems. A daily workout at home may be the solution you need, but then how do you decide what fitness equipment to buy? Is a home fitness centre really what you need? How much will it cost you? These are some of the questions you need to answer before you decide to invest in a home fitness centre.

Basic Equipment Required For a Home Gym

Setting up your home gym can be a formidable task. Some of the basic equipment you need in your home gym to achieve healthy weight loss is listed below.

o The Step Aerobic Step: The step is a must-have in any home gym due to its multi-functionality. It can be used in cardio activities such as step aerobics and can also function as a weight bench.

o Adjustable Weight Bench: If step aerobics is not your cup of tea, maybe you could try a weight bench instead of a step. A weight bench can be used for chest and back exercises or even for a quick abs workout. An adjustable bench is preferred over a flat bench since you can do incline and decline exercises with it.

o Dumbbell Set: A dumbbell set that has two each of 5-, 8- and 12-lb weights and comes with its own compact rack is a valuable addition to your home gym. The dumbbells are rubber hex dumbbells which will not roll away when put down.

o Barbell Set: Get a barbell set with a bar and weights. This along with your dumbbell set can give your body a more strenuous workout with heavier weights. Various workout options targeting different muscle groups can be planned for a healthy weight loss.

o Weight Lifting Gloves: Lifting weights could probably make your hands a bit rough. Weight lifting gloves that protect your hands will be helpful.

o Resistance Bands and Tubes: You have your dumbbells; you have your barbells - now what? Well, resistance bands, of course. These are small enough to fit in your suitcase and can give you a full-body workout wherever you are.

o Stability Ball: Stability balls are the latest trend in home fitness equipment. They improve balance and are also good for strength training. Use your exercise ball for lower-back exercises, push-ups or for an abdominal workout.

o Adjustable Ankle Weights: A good pair of ankle weights is helpful in improving the stability muscles of the lower body. Ankle weights can be added to moves such as leg extensions or standard leg lifts and are helpful to work towards healthy weight loss.

o Exercise Mat: An exercise mat is one last thing that you will need for your fitness routine at home. You can use your exercise mat for yoga, toning exercises, Pilates, ab workouts and many other routines.

Now that you are all set with your home gym, work towards your goal of healthy weight loss at your convenience.

The Healthy Benefits of Exercise

There is no need to explain the benefits of exercise. It has been proven time and again that looking after your body through physical exercises at any age will give you peace of mind and refresh your soul. Whatever time you exercise, whether it is early morning, late evening or even during the course of the day you will maintain health and even keep certain diseases at bay. Doing regular exercises like brisk walking, swimming, cycling and jogging five times a week will boost your immune system. Regular exercises aid not only in weight loss, doing exercise in a happy and positive mood lets you have a long and healthy life. Here in this article let me familiarize you with some of the terms used in exercise training.

Most people are crazy about martial arts. They were first popularized in the movies of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan movies and kids began to idolize them and follow their actions blindly. Not everyone can master martial arts. It requires a high level of physical fitness and flexibility before you can even try your hand at it. There are different kinds of martial arts depending on culture and ethnicity. Martial Arts were developed in Japan, Brazil, China, Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, America, India and Thailand. Some of the most popular forms of martial arts in various countries are Karate (Japanese), Kungfu (Chinese), Taekwondo (Korean), Judo (Japanese), Kalaripayatu (Indian), Capeirra and Jujitsu (Brazil) and Flingfist (American).

With the popularity of martial arts people are deeply inclined towards practicing the forza sword techniques. It is not some thing that is unknown these days. People are aware of the highly powerful and divinely magical effects of training with swords. Sword training involves training not only of the body but unites the mind and spirit too. Through this exercise, you will gain a great deal of stamina and strength as it is mentally intense, physically correlating your upper and lower body and enhancing you spiritually.

Exercising at home is very common these days with more and more people becoming health conscious and embarking on weight training and strength training exercises. People who can afford it set up various exercise equipment in their mini gym with facilities for other activities like swimming and tennis. Those people who can't afford it frequent the gyms to train on equipment like treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights, strength training equipment, stair climbers, rowing machines and elliptical cross trainers.

Strength training exercises concentrate on developing your muscles and make them stronger and powerful. Ladies swoon over a strong set of muscles and a balanced and routine workout keeps men in shape and looking their best. When men develop muscles through cardiovascular exercise they succeed in getting that coveted look.

Strength training exercises also build anaerobic endurance. This endurance is invariably training exercises one or more of the muscle groups are used. Those major muscle groups are Triceps, Shoulders, Ribcage, Quadriceps, Pectorals, Obliques, Lats, Hips, Hamstrings, Biceps, Calves, Forearms, Abdominals, Upper back and Lower Back.

The Pilates form of exercise was developed by Joseph Pilates and it emphasizes mental concentration, concentration on the central part of the body, breathing, muscular control and precision awareness. Fluidity, grace and ease flow into the exercise patterns.

If you want to watch some exercise videos to guide you on various types of exercise forms online, there are many websites that offer them. Exercise videos are available on YouTube, exercise equipment websites and several other sites. Exercise videos are available when you search with exercise keywords.

The Purpose of Yoga - Empowerment with Yoga

How can you achieve empowerment from any form of Yoga practice, when life seems so out of control? You may have people working against your best plans. How can Yoga help you develop the patience to overcome daily obstacles?

When you are in the middle of a tough situation, try to get an overview of the entire situation. Try to observe the situation without emotion or ego. Try to become the observer. This is not easy, but it is possible.

Now, you may be wondering what good it will do. When you observe situations, without taking anything personal, you will make rational decisions and find solutions. Why? To put it simply, you created time and space to think "outside the box." In fact, you took control of the situation, by changing from within.

When we change on the inside, the world looks much different on the outside. How can we get proper direction? There are so many possible changes. In order for us to progress in life, we need reliable information. At this time, there is an over abundance of information, and experts can disagree.

Finding reliable answers does depend on information, but it requires some soul searching too. Do you feel in your heart that a decision is right? How will it affect your integrity? Will others benefit from your decision? Will someone be hurt by your decision?

Yoga teaches us to look at life's situations objectively. In the end, you must make morally-just decisions that you can live with.

Yoga Teacher Training - 3 Steps To Uncover Your Yoga Teaching Niche

Outcome: Find a yoga niche

Too many yoga teachers offer the same service. There is a whole, new, undiscovered, vibrant world of yoga out there waiting for you to tap into. It's time to find a niche and become an expert in it. The mindset is to become the best in the world in your niche. By selecting a yoga niche you will open the doors to many wonderful opportunities.

Definition of a Niche

A niche market is a focused portion of a market.

A business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers. You can think of a niche market as a narrowly defined group of potential customers.

Steps:

Step 1: Get a pen and some paper out and brainstorm ideas for your niche

For example yoga:

for golfers
for celebrities
for teenagers
for primary school children
for people with bad backs
for rugby players

Step 2: Once you've picked your 'niche market' spend at least 10% of your time becoming an expert in that field

For example if your niche is yoga for golfers, your activities could include:

researching yoga postures for golfers
compiling a list of golf clubs in your area
contacting the head professionals at your local golf clubs

Step 3: Turn on other revenue streams

Example: if your niche is 'yoga for golfers' you could set up yoga...

1-2-1 sessions for golfers
days for golfers
retreats for golfers
for golfers DVD
for golfers DVD series
for golfers card deck

Basic Yoga Techniques For Beginners

For those who want to pursue a mind-body connection, yoga techniques offer a dynamic conditioning program that will help you achieve a mental and physical balance in your life. Yoga is not only about building strength and doing gentle stretching; it will allow you to explore positive thinking, meditation, concentration, emotion, and spiritualism.

Begin With the Sun Salute

There are hundreds of yoga techniques but beginners will start with a series of twelve poses called the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar). It is performed in a single, graceful flow.

Basic yoga poses work from the inside out to improve and condition the health of the mind and body. You move in an ever progressing sequence of poses, known as Asanas. As you move slowly in and out from one asana to another, your body produces a high body heat that purifies muscles and organs. Asanas are taught in a sequential order and each should be mastered before proceeding to the next. This gradual training develops the strength and balance required for more advanced levels.

Along with poses and learning proper alignment of the body, which is very important in yoga techniques, beginners will also learn the art of breath control (Pranayama).

Moving Meditation

This dynamic flow of moving meditation is linked together with a breathing and movement technique called Vinyasa. Vi means "to go" and nyasa means "placing" so the term is describing a method of entering and exiting one asana to another. Each movement is accompanied by one breath.

Beginners and novices will learn the Sun Salute sequence including poses such as Downward Facing Dog and Plank. Many yoga techniques look similar to exercises used in bodyweight resistance training, although they are known by different names. They are some of the best tools you will ever learn for building strength in your muscles and bones.

Each pose can be modified so that yoga can be practiced by anyone at any age level and at any fitness level. To increase the level of difficulty, hold each asana longer, and later on, increase the speed and repetition of each series of poses (vinyasa).

A yoga instructor can help you with proper alignment of the body, breathing, and explain how to draw on lines of energy, the directional path of force moving through your body during a pose.

The Benefits of Yoga

Classical Ashtanga Yoga is a vigorous type of Vinyasa-style yoga in that the poses flow from one to the next, in the same order, without pause, incorporating rhythmic breathing. The meditation technique of focusing on the intense physical aspect of each movement helps to bring calmness to your mind and shut out distractions. The most important product of Vinyasa series is producing cleansing sweat. Performing the Asanas creates heat and pushes toxins out the body through sweat.

The regular practice of yoga techniques has multiple wellness benefits for the body, and many people begin yoga with the goal of losing weight. Since yoga uniquely involves the training of the mind as well as the body, you will begin to overcome bad habits and learn control that applies to many aspects of your life. Your appetite, cravings, and other longings will diminish, and you will shed unwanted pounds through the purifying heat of the sweat and cleansing that yoga provides.

Tune In to Your Inner Self

Ideally, you should learn yoga techniques at a local class taught by an instructor who has at least 200 hours of certified training. You should never have any discomfort after the class, but feel centered, calm, and rejuvenated. If classes are not available in your area, there are excellent books and DVDs on how to get started in yoga on your own. With just a session or two, you will begin to learn how to tune in to your inner self and establish a close mind-body connection through the practice of yoga.

Back Pain and Being Overweight - Part 3

Children's bodies are definitely more resilient than adult ones but they are also traumatized a lot more and over time and it takes it's toll. Osteopaths are often told by patients that they can remember having back pain, or neck pain or headaches right back into their childhood and in most case they did not have any treatment when the problem started.

The source of your back pain is also important to consider. If your pain is a result of heavy lifting, direct injury, or something similar, it is important to first get your back checked out by a health professional. Once you have decided whether the pain is something that can be treated at home or if it is something that will stay, then you can consider back pain alternatives.

And oftentimes overlooked variable when trying to alleviate back pain are the shoes you where everyday. Did you know that wearing certain types of shoes can result in back pain and can even do physical damage to your body?

For women, the biggest culprits are high heeled shoes. By altering how you naturally place your feet as you walk, high heels can change the curvature of your spine? Women who suffer from back pain should wear flat shoes as much as possible.

Hardwick, MA (PRWEB) January 18, 2008 -- "A sexy yogini sitting in lotus position on the hood of a car is not out of the question - if it helps sell the car," says yoga marketing and trends expert Megan McDonough of Mindful Marketing. She's identified ten key yoga trends as yoga becomes part of the global fabric of daily life in 2008 and moves out of the yoga studio and into the offices of doctors, businesses and ad agencies.

Trend #1) Bringing classes to the masses. Yoga will continue to migrate into new territories beyond the standard studio or gym. Think yoga at your desk, for specific segments like the overweight or seniors, or at unexpected locations like shopping malls.

Trend #2) The doctor will see the yogi now. Conventional healthcare providers will increasingly acknowledge the benefits of yoga therapy. Expect to see peer-reviewed research examining yoga's health benefits and other signs of acceptance by the traditional healthcare community.

Trend #3) Yoga will take up permanent residence on Madison Avenue. Companies will turn to yoga imagery when they want to associate their products or services with a wellness lifestyle--even if they have nothing to do with wellness.

Trend #4) Asia will be the next growth market. More teachers will answer the call to bring yoga to Hong Kong, and more Asians will travel to the United States to attend yoga conferences and teacher training programs.

The Yoga in Everyone

Keep well, remain young a long time and live to a good old age, such is the three fold wish that the people of every race and country, at all times, formulated at the bottoms of their hearts. We are born with Yoga. Yoga is not something new or unfamiliar to us, in fact it is our second nature.

We are all born with the Yogic tendencies such as flexible movements and rhythmic breathing. How ironic it is that we as adults have to remind ourselves of what came naturally to us as a child. Observe a new born baby; instinctively it moves its fingers, wrist, ankles and toes. As the months passes by, the child will begin to put its toes into its mouth and begin chewing. Can you do this now? When did you lose it? Pay close attention to a child, and you will marvel at the child actually performing yoga postures. This holds true in the animal kingdom, whereby we can observe the same behavior in calf's and cubs. A toddler by the grace of nature makes its body flexible and supple through movements such as the backward bend, forward bend and splits, just having fun as nature intended.

As we grew up, all these movements we did as a child is nothing more than a memory. Our mundane, corruptible living habits and sedentary lifestyle has restricted our movements and flexibility thereby resulting in chronic ailments and body aches. In our struggle for wealth, name and fame, we have paid little or no attention to the decline of our body movements and its flexibility.

A child truly lives a Yogic life in body mind and spirit simply because it does not have an inflated ego. A child naturally forgives and forgets; it does not hold grudges and exhibits divine qualities. Relatively, as we grow into adulthood, we are caught up in the rat race for name, fame and wealth at the expense of our health and mental stability. Sadly, the wealth that we accumulate has to be spent to regain our lost health. Yoga is a union between the body, mind and spirit. The Yoga postures ensure that we retain our flexibility, especially the spine as we had during our childhood years. The breathing techniques that Yoga teaches, promotes calmness and peace within us.

Yoga is power through disciplined training of the mind and the body. The human body is often exposed to the onslaught of unhealthy habits and ceaseless medication. The result is constant aches and ailments of all descriptions. Hatha Yoga teaches us to awaken the power within us and returning vitality to the mind and body. These exercises are beneficial to all people regardless of age, gender, race or social standings.

Remember yoga is 5 fold. Preventive, curative, receptive, recreative, and corrective.
