Do Your Brain Training at the Gym, in the Pool and Keep Your Body Fit As Well

When you are into physical exercise you expect to get a fitter body, develop your muscles and even lose some weight while you are at it. You sweat your way on the treadmill and the other equipment, very often with some reluctance, because while you know physical training is good for your body, you also hate doing it. You are not a real devotee when it comes to building your body to be perfect.

Maybe you get some more motivation if you know that the physical training is also great for the brain. When we think of brain training, we think of puzzles maybe, studying, learning something new, but absolutely not of the gym. Or bodily exercise at all. Yet these kinds of exercises are great for the brain!

Our daily life knows a lot of stress, consciously or unconsciously. This stress gives our body harmful chemicals which we have to get rod off as soon as we can. Not healthy! Exercising your body throws these chemicals out, creates an amount of a certain protein that will help your cells in your brain and gives your brain an oxygen boost which reduces the free radicals in your brain. On top of this all exercise helps creating the neurons in your brain that are necessary to do all the things you want the brain to do on a daily base - both conscious and all the subconscious things.

Now you do not have to race to the gym right away if the gym is not your thing. Chances are you will not stay a training program anyway... There are other exercises you can do that take out the stress of your brain and start pampering it a bit. You may consider swimming, walking, yoga or karate... Going to a spa and relax is also a good stress exorcist.

All the relaxing and training is meant to nourish your brain and help it to do the things it should do. That way you need not fear getting older, because a healthy brain takes so much more time to slow down than a neglected brain. If you keep up the exercises until you really cannot do them anymore you will age in a gracious manner. Since we live a lot longer than our ancestors that is certainly something to look forward to.

Why Brain Training?
The brain needs care just like the body
New scientific research shows that we can improve the health and function of our brains with the right mental workouts. In a study funded by the National Institute of Health, scientists found that memory, reasoning and processing speed can be improved by brain training. Moreover, they found that cognitive improvements persisted for at least five years!
