Obesity and Aromatherapy

As we all have heard from the daily news, obesity is rampant in our American society. Part of the reason for this is the sugar, white flour, starch and highly processed food that is a large part of many people's diets. The combination of this type of nutrient deficient diet along with the sedentary lifestyle that many people lead has caused an obesity epidemic greater than ever before in this country. The problem of growing heavier and larger is compounded by the fact that this society is obsessed with having a slim figure and the cultural norms for beauty, which can lead to more emotional problems and heartaches.

Many diseases that are very dangerous are brought on by obesity. Some of these are diabetes, respiratory problems, high blood pressure, heart disease and circulatory problems--but there are more. People are less likely to remain active when they get overweight and consequences can be serious when they don't get enough exercise which helps to keep newly oxygenated blood pumping through the body's system.

People overeat for a number of different reasons. There is a possibility that emotional needs and not just physical problems could be at the heart of the issue. That is why it is extremely helpful for people who are obese to work on their inner selves. This will take some time but if they can begin to realize the causes of their overeating and start dealing with those issues they can begin a healing process. It is very beneficial to find out if there are emotional triggers like anger, depression, low self-esteem or sadness which are resulting in the desire to eat more than they need.

Boredom is another reason that some people might overeat. If there is not anything interesting going on they may turn to food. Other people may desire to comfort themselves from having experienced something traumatic or from loneliness. Often they learn to do this when they are young. Whatever the reason may be, it is very necessary to the success of any weight loss plan to discover the unique triggers that drive a person to their food addiction.

Another vital part of creating an individual plans for better health is to understand what people are putting into their bodies that is unhealthy. After determining which foods and snacks are not good, another part of reaching for the goal of good health is to replace poor foods with healthier ones. This will entail replacing many empty calories that are in refined foods such as white flour and sugar with more nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. It is better to eat organic fruits and vegetables in their raw state as often as is possible.

Exercising is another critical part of a plan to change obese people's health. However, this important change must be made gradually. A person who has not been exercising will more than likely not be able to begin with a strenuous workout. One who has been very sedentary should start by focusing on establishing a routine and not worry about their performance.

The recommended exercises such as daily walks, swimming or yoga should be gentle in nature in the beginning. The goal is to make a lifestyle change of commitment and practice. Once the habit has been formed of doing something daily, then the level of exercise can move up to cardiovascular workouts and strength training. A good rule of thumb is to begin by moving for at least 20 minutes a day and then move up from there.

A powerful tool to use to help people to decrease their appetite is aromatherapy. It can be of great benefit in helping to overcome a food addiction and establishing a new way of thinking. 'Comfort food' eaters have found it to be very effective when facing cravings. When a person recognizes that they don't really need to eat but are just bored or depressed, aromatherapy can help to satisfy those cravings. A person should also try drinking more water to help them maintain their body system. Many times, if a person thinks they need to eat, it may just be their brain telling them they need water.

A recipe for an effective appetite suppressant is to blend together 1 drop of Clary Sage, 1 drop of Sandalwood and 1 drop of Ylang Ylang essential oils. You may make it into a massage oil by adding it to a carrier oil and apply it to pressure points on the body. It can also be used in an aromatic bath, in aromatherapy candles, or as an inhalant for immediate relief of cravings.

The Cleansing Power of Breath

You can go for over a month without food without any major health problems. You can last for a few days without water, before severe dehydration sets in. However, you can only last for 10 minutes without breathing before creeping very close to death's door.

Most of us have a near-constant fixation on food, always searching for the magic diet that will help us lose some weight or gain some muscle. We pay attention to drinking; making sure to consume 8-10 glasses of water a day. However, we rarely focus on the breath as a means of achieving a higher level of vitality. In this post I will discuss the importance of breath, and a method for enhancing your mind/body connection through a simple breathing exercise.

Breath is the key to life

Breathing is not just critical for physical well-being, there are also proven links between the breath and proper mental function. Attend any (good) yoga class and you'll realize how attention to the breath not only provides you with physical energy, it also produces a stabilizing and calming affect on the mind. Try standing in Dandayamana Dhanurasana (standing bow) for a minute without attention to the breath and you will see what I mean!

A great way to train the body to utilize the breath more effectively throughout your day, it to perform daily breathing exercises. Once you've gotten into the habit of performing these exercises, you will find your body naturally and subtly utilizing the breath more efficiently without any conscious action required.

A great technique that has been utilized by Yogis for thousands of years, is the Nadi Shodhana Pranayama technique. I learned this technique several years ago, and it has become a very powerful and stabilizing force in my life. I also practiced the technique extensively during a recent meditation and fasting retreat I attended in Colorado. I find that the higher level of stress you have in your life, the more impactful the effect of such breathwork.

Impact on the Subtle Body

Nadi Shodhana Pranayama is known as "the sweet breath," and is a simple form of alternate nostril breathing. "Nadi" is a Sanskrit term and means "flow, motion or vibration." "Shodhana" means "to cleanse or purify." Pranayama means "expansion of Prana, or life force." Nadi's, according to ancient Indian writings, are channels that allow "Prana" to flow throughout the body to nourish every cell. Prana is a "life force" that is requisite for life. Think of the Nadis as our body's irrigation system. When our Nadi's are clean and open, the Prana can flow smoothly and we are energized and healthy. When our Nadi's are clogged, we feel lethargic, and contract illness and disease.

These Nadi's, of course, are not visible to the naked eye, or scientific instruments. They exist in the meta-physical realm. For Yogi's, belief in this subtle (nonphysical) body is part and parcel to life. Proof is not necessary as the end-result is experienced. With first-hand experience of this truth, scientific proof is not needed. However, for many scientifically minded people, it can be natural to want proof before committing to such a belief. Thankfully, such proof does exist.

Scientific Proof

According to Yogic teaching, alternative nostril breathing is derived from an awareness that the normal human breathing cycle alternates between the right and left nostrils every two hours. Scientists have discovered that this nasal function also corresponds with brain function. According to research, activity of the brain is found to be much greater in the side opposite the nostril with less congestion or blockage. These blockages impact the natural brain function.

Furthermore, form biology class, you may recall that the right side of the brain controls creative activity while the left side controls verbal and logical activity. Practice of Nadi Shodhana has been shown to regulate the activity across both sides of the brain, by imposing a regular sine wave over the normal irregular brain activity. Through an imposing of regularity on the brain and mental processes, a related effect is seen throughout other autonomous body functions as well. An end result of this practice is a "balance" across many body functions and emotions. Effects may include:

Balance across tendencies towards introversion and extroversion
Balance across the desire to act and actual action
Balance across creative and logical thought patterns
Increased feeling of peace and happiness
Increased feeling of purpose
Increased feeling of motivation
Increased and more sustained levels of energy

Nadi Shodhana Technique

The good news is, the Nadi Shodhana technique is incredibly easy to learn and practice. It makes a great pre-cursor to a meditation practice, hatha yoga practice, or even sleep. Outlined below are some guidelines to follow. Start using the Nadi Shodhana Panayama technique, and bring balance and vitality back to your life.

Preparation

Blow out your nose, to clear any blockages.Find a comfortable seat. Preferably, cross-legged on the floor, though a chair will do if need be. Make sure you spine is completely erect.Keep you mouth closed, but make sure your jaw is relaxed.Close your eyes and gently gaze at a point in between your eyes. Do not stare, just gently gaze.

Practice

Using your left hand, bring your middle and pointer finger together to a spot touching your forehead between your eyes.
Close your LEFT nostril with your thumb.
Exhale for 8 seconds from your RIGHT nostril.
Inhale for 4 seconds from your RIGHT nostril.
Hold your breath for 6 seconds
Close your RIGHT nostril with your ring finger and exhale from your LEFT nostril for 8 seconds.
Hold with your lungs empty for 2 seconds.
Inhale from your LEFT nostril for 4 seconds.
Hold the breath for 6 seconds.
Close the LEFT nostril with the thumb and exhale from the RIGHT nostril for 8 seconds.
Hold with your lungs empty for 2 seconds
Inhale with the RIGHT nostril for 4 seconds...and so on....go back to step #5 and keep repeating the cycle for 2-3 minutes.

What is Exercise and What Does it Do For You?

Fitness training is the latest fad of the age. Wherever you look, you will see people engaged in some physical exercise or the other. Be it walking, cycling, swimming, or going to the gym; there is hardly any person who isn't health conscious in the world today. What is the reason for it? Perhaps because people are increasingly growing aware of the hazards of the hectic and speedy life that characterizes modern existence, or maybe due to the fact that fit, healthy and a good body is something that everyone craves for. Whatever be the reason, exercising and working out have become the top priority among majority of the world population.

What is Exercise?

You may wonder what exactly exercise is. What is making people so driven towards it? Contrary to popular belief, exercise can simply be defined as physical activity on a daily basis. Much of this physical activity has to be exhausting, i.e. it should involve significant exertion. This implies that working out in a gym or signing up for yoga classes do not only qualify as exercise. Even a brisk walk in the park or just climbing up stairs can well be considered as tiring physical activity. How do you know that the daily chores you are doing are good enough to be called exercise? How do you differentiate between light and heavy work? Following are a couple of points that may serve as a guideline to you:

If you have been working for about half an hour, doing something that involves physical movement of moderate intensity, it should ideally make you feel warmer, increase the rate of your heart beat so much so that you can feel your pulse rate and also make you gasp for breath. These three signs are enough to prove that you have just had a session of moderate exercise.

Increased rate of perspiration can be another important pointer. If you find yourself sweating profusely after a walk or maybe after working in your garden, you have had moderate exercise.

So, it is not always necessary that you join a gym or hire a fitness trainer if you want to reap the benefits of daily exercise. You can do so at on your own by:

Climbing up stairs instead of taking the elevator

Walking or jogging instead of driving your car

Doing domestic work faster than usual

Doing heavy work such as gardening, washing clothes manually and cleaning your room

Playing any sport that involves physical exertion like soccer, volleyball etc.

How is Exercise Beneficial?

Exercising, as widely known, can help you in more ways than one. Apart from helping you to lose weight and stay in good shape, it can ward off many chronic physical disorders like heart problems, diabetes, arthritis and even some kinds of cancer. Besides, daily workout can reduce stress to a considerable degree and hence keep you more energetic and ready to face your tough and hectic life. If you can supplement your day to day physical activities discussed above, with a fitness training regimen under a certified personal trainer, then it can be all the more useful.

So, don't waste anymore time. Always remember that health is wealth. Exercise and engage in daily physical activities and you will soon feel the difference!

12 Random Thoughts Regarding Training and Nutrition

1. Every training program should consist of joint mobility training, strength training, conditioning, and flexibility. The amount of time devoted to each will depend on the trainee and the situation.

2. There is absolutely no reason why everybody should not be taking fish oil. It reduces total body inflammation, improves body composition, and promotes joint and cardiovascular health along with a host of other health benefits. If you burp up fish, store it in the freezer. If you forget to take it, put a note on the door to your freezer. No excuses. And no, eating fish twice per week will not cut it, especially when it is most likely farm raised.

3. Eat fruit, don't drink it. Juice has no fiber and more calories, which is not a good thing.

4. Females who are afraid of strength training because they do not want to get bulky, should be more concerned with a degenerative bone disease called osteoporosis. If you ask me, that is a bit more alarming than being strong, having some muscle and looking good. I am just saying.

5. While it is true that direct arm work probably will not do much to enhance performance, high school kids love training the guns. The key is to prioritize what is conducive to improving performance and do these things first. Movements that exploit several joints should take precedence and if there is time at the end, throw some direct arm work in to appease the appetites of the high school athletes. It is similar to a child getting ice cream after eating their meat and vegetables. If there is not enough time to fit it in, no big deal.

6. I was once told that yoga strengthens your body and your soul. You know what strengthens your soul? Sled dragging, wrestling practice and hill sprints. Yoga is not strength training (for the body or the soul). I don't care what anyone tells you. How would progressive overload apply to yoga? The trainee would need to get fatter? Riiiiiight.

7. Warm ups should raise core and tissue temperature. Static stretching is not sufficient. Dynamic stretching alone is also not sufficient. General movement drills such as skips, shuffles, jumping rope, jumping jacks and other calisthenics followed by some dynamic flexibility works. Remember warm tissues are much more pliable than cold ones.

8. There are no secrets with regards to training. Consistency, slow progression and balanced program design are the keys. With regards to nutrition, there are also no secrets. If you had a bowl of fruity pebbles for breakfast, you don't need to go to GNC to buy protein powder, you need to go to the grocery store to buy eggs, oatmeal and fruit. After you eat 3 or 4 eggs and a bowl of oatmeal and fruit for breakfast everyday for 2 weeks, we can move on to lunch. Get the point?

9. In related news, America runs on Dunkin. Is there really any question why this is the fattest nation in the world?

10. The work done in the weightroom should improve performance and reduce the likelihood of injuries during athletic endeavors. The work done on the field should improve upon sport specific skills. In other words, a strength and conditioning coach should make the athlete stronger, faster and more resilient. A sport coach should make adjustments to stance, swing mechanics, takedown technique, etc. Don't get the two confused.

11. Fruit Two O, Propel Fitness Water, Vitamin Water and any other variation of the original are just an example of how humans can bastardize anything to make a dollar. Drink plain, old water for the love of god.

12. You have to realize that you cannot help all of the people all of the time. You can lead the horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Massage therapy, fish oil, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep are all great for recovery. Unfortunately, you can only control what goes on inside the gym. The remaining hours of the week are up to the trainee to be disciplined.

Listening Deeply: Feeling a Connection with Sound

One of my favorite things to do when I was younger was go to air shows. There, I could feel the planes flying over me, even before I could see them. Having been born with a hearing impairment made me particularly sensitive to sound, and I had to figure out a way to do more with sound than just listen, because that was difficult. With this challenge, I discovered early on that sound could be felt, as well as heard. It was always clear to me that others didn't have this same relationship with sound; they were almost oblivious to it. Most people respond to music, and can dance to a beat, but beyond that hearing tends to be a lost art.

All people can relate to music; sound can soothe the soul. There seems to be something about the rhythm and beat that makes people stop and take notice -- they can focus on the sound for a period of minutes, which is usually very hard to accomplish! Music may remind people of a time in their lives, or inspire a particular memory, or mark an occasion. Most people understand the power of music, at least on a superficial level. So what is it about sound that people are missing?

The missing piece is the feeling, the understanding of how ingrained sound is in all of us. Western society has become so dependent on sight that it's almost impossible to get people to look away from the TV, or a car crash, or the computer screen. Many people wear glasses to correct their vision, but only 1 in 10 people who needs a hearing aid will wear it. Why have our eyes taken over and left us unable to really listen?

I have a theory -- it's one that I've been developing for a long time, but I think it's a sound one: The eyes disconnect us, while the ears connect us. Why is this important? The eyes see and filter information, and then the brain has to interpret it. The ears, however, have no filter, so although the brain is given all the data, it can interpret the information however it wants. No matter what we do, our eyes will distort and mask what is really possible, and our brains can mask and distort. This distortion makes us see things as apart from us; everything is "out there." Our ears, however, are open. Our ears give us an experience; we even can feel sound internally, if we practice, just as I did as a kid.

It's important to re-train our interpreter -- the brain -- to hear sounds more clearly and not rely so heavily on our eyes. Nada yoga, the yoga of deep listening, is a practice that can help us to hear and feel sound. Nada yoga encourages us to tune in to our world and to stop interpreting so much with our brains. When we take time to focus on a sound --a song, for instance -- it can soothe our brains. When we tune into ambient noise and stop labeling everything as "good" sound or "bad" sound, our brains become trained to accept all sounds. When we listen to the people with whom we are in relationships, we also become more tuned in to our inter-connectedness, because they often say similar things to what we would say in a given situation.

Science tells us that all of us are vibration; the entire universe is composed most fundamentally of vibration -- sound. If that's the case, it is clearly important to listen to the vibrations you can hear. That first crucial step eventually will lead you down a path of understanding everything as vibration. When you can feel that vibration, then you are connected with everything, because it's all vibration, including you. This vibration cannot be seen with the eyes; in fact, the eyes mask it and make us see things as different, separate, and not connected. Only the ears can allow us to hear, and eventually feel, our similarities -- if we listen deeply enough.

Yoga Teacher Guidelines for Assisting, Part 3

You can take this advice "to the bank." Invest in your career by expanding your education with books, videos, online courses, Yoga teacher correspondence courses, workshops, seminars, and Yoga retreats. By making continuing education a necessary part of your company policy, you will be a "safety-minded" Yoga teacher, with impressive knowledge and credentials. So, on top of being a safe Yoga teacher, and attracting more students, you will also protect your business.

Your other option is to take risks, and there is no excuse for it. Books, videos, and correspondence courses, are relatively inexpensive. Seminars, retreats, and workshops, for Yoga teachers, can be somewhat more expensive, but the value of continuing education is so important; add to this that you may be able to network with local Yoga teachers after you have taken a Yoga course.

Why would anyone want to short change their own Yoga business? The only justification I hear is cost, but if you are serious about teaching Yoga safely to others, you can invest in education one book at a time. Later, take a Yoga teacher course that fits into your budget.

Do physical assists in Yoga postures make you feel uncomfortable? Some Yoga instructors dread assisting their students; while some students leave Yoga classes that have "hands on assists." This "hang up" about touching may seem ridiculous to some Yoga teachers, while other Yoga instructors avoid touching like the plague. Remember that touching another person can be difficult if you have a personal history where touching was used to gain trust, and later betrayed. It is also not looked upon favorably by some cultures.

For example: As a child and a younger adult, when I met martial arts masters, from Okinawa and Honshu, students were informed to bow and keep the small talk to a minimum. Hand shakes were not to be offered, as this was an intrusion of personal space. I understood because my next door neighbor was Japanese and explained enough to satisfy my curiosity about Japanese culture and history.

Is it really necessary for Yoga teachers to give a physical assist? Not really, some teachers are very good at verbal cueing. Some classes are based on movement, such as Vinyasa Yoga. If you teach Iyengar Yoga, assisting is a regular part of your daily practice.

Just remember to always get permission, in writing, and verbally, before you place your hands on your students.

Hatha Yoga for Prevention of Ailments

Hatha Yoga contains many aspects which can be useful for mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health of the practitioner, but most students are concerned with the physical body.

Many students enter their first Yoga class with a specific pre-existing condition. It could be stress, back pain, recovering from a stroke, a neurological disorder, or any other health condition, which finally drove them to enter a Yoga studio.

In some cases, Yoga teachers wish people would become pro-active about their health much sooner in life. Yet, many physicians I speak with say the same thing. Decades of neglect, due to negligence of health, are difficult to undo.

This is not meant to place the blame on the client, student, or patient, for a health condition. Some health conditions are difficult to suppress, due to genetic factors. People cannot simply change their genetic make up, but they can turn poor habits into pro-active good health habits.

For example: John quits smoking and decides to replace his habit with walking and Yoga. My guess is John will live a decade or decades longer, in good health, because of his decision.

Now, let's get back to reality. If the average person quits smoking, he or she will replace this habit by eating more, and sitting on the couch for decades, until the body cannot take it any longer. The solution is to strategically replace poor health habits with good habits, which result in better quality life.

Many students enter their first Yoga class with a specific pre-existing condition. It could be stress, back pain, recovering from a stroke, a neurological disorder, or any other health condition, which finally drove them to enter a Yoga studio.

In the case of pain, why wait until pain is unmanageable? Many people go to their physician, or a Hatha Yoga class, because pain drove them to it. Overwork and a lack of awareness, with respect to health, can cause us grief for the rest of our lives.

Yoga in India

An exercise routine that has taken the world over was discovered in India around 3300 BC. When the Indus valley civilization was uncovered, many seals with figures in yoga poses were discovered. So it had flourished in the Indus valley.

Learning yoga has become an attribute for every Indian. At some point of time they are certainly affected by yoga. A few Asians learnt can keep you healthy for a very long time. They strengthen the digestive system. Increase the blood flow to various parts of the body that keeps you fresh and pepped up all day long. Investing a few hours in this exercise is a long-term assuredness of being healthy.

Many prefer to learn yoga from Rishis (holy men) as they perfect the asana and are able to help the learner perfect it. A wrong bend or a wrong posture can do much harm than good. Hence it is very important to learn the right posture.

As Yoga has been founded in India, it has spread over the centuries. Today you do not have to go to remote villages to learn the exercise from a meditating Rishi (holy man). Instead there are many instructors that are trained in the field to help you practice. It is best prescribed on an empty stomach and after a good rest.

Yoga finds its mentions in the Upanishads and the Puranas that have been composed by the Aryans in later half of the Vedic period. Hence it must have been pursued by Kings, Royals and most of the people as an exercise routine where cardio and weight training were unheard of.

There are 8 stages described by the teachers of Yoga:

1) Yamas - where one learns to abstain or restrain

2) Niyamas - here one studies to give up the ego and live in purity and contentment

3) Asanas - here are the exercises of healthy living

4) Pranayama - Breathing exercises

5) Partyahar - where the senses are withdrawn

6) Dhrana - complete concentration is achieved

7) Dhyana - from concentration, meditation is the next step

8) Samadhi - the super conscious state is achieved. To reach this stage many years of practice is needed.

And once you attain all the eight then Moksha that is redemption is said to be yours.

Yoga and You - The Best Things to Know

Yoga is like your toothbrush. This strange thought occurred to me. So I pondered how and came up with 3 reasons why. Here there are:

1. Very Personal

How do you choose your toothbrush. Is it primarily according to the quality of your gum, how sensitive it is and the impact the bristles will have on your gum? Or do you fall for how attractive the handle is, the color, design, or advertising?

Like toothbrushes, there are many types of Yoga to choose from. In the texts of this ancient tradition we'll find a type of yoga for different personality types. In the type of yoga that is mostly physical, Hatha Yoga, there are again many different styles.

Yoga is so personal that even when you have decided on a type and style of yoga, the way you practice has to be adjusted according to your body type, health, age, lifestyle, and to be balanced it helps to take into account the bigger picture of the season of year.

2. Designed for Cleansing

What are we cleaning when we practice? The body and mind. Cleansing practices include breathing or pranayama. Pranayama can be both powerful and heating like kapalabhati and breath of fire; and gentle like alternate nostril breathing, nadi shodhana. You can even break out in a sweat with certain seemingly gentle breathing practices.

Asana or posture practice is also cleansing. Twisting, flexing, extending, holding, combined with conscious breathing help to flush the system, physically, emotionally and mentally.

3. More Effective When Used Twice Daily

If you can create space to practice yoga twice daily, you will notice quite a difference in your state of mind and body. Practice to bring balance. Energize In the morning to get going. Bring calm and closure at the end of the day.

Practicing 10 minutes a day is more effective than 60 minutes once a week. If your current practice is once weekly and works very well for you, by all means stick to it. And consider how you could include a short daily practice to support your life's journey even more.

Three questions to know your better:

1. What are my reasons for practicing yoga?

2. How does my body and mind feel after a yoga practice?

3. How do I adjust my practice according to my changing bodily needs?

What are your best things to know about yoga? I'd like to know.

Yoga and Pregnancy

Stressing is the last thing a woman would like to do when pregnant. Therefore sticking to Yoga which is a low impact exercise helps them and their babies a lot and also keeps them relaxed and comfortable.

Yoga does not distress pregnant women and their babies

Guidelines are given for good breathing techniques which in tend helps the body system. Yoga's matchless breathing technique which in some practices called Ujjain breathing calms the body system.

Yoga videos do focus on breathing especially those for pregnant women. The exercise relieves pregnant women from apprehension and pressure through proper breathing exercises. The kind of breathing it teaches helps women during labour.

Yoga trains the body. It teaches you how to release tensions and stress from your body through this exercise. As your body grows, you start to experience changes in your body. Some of these changes are aches and pains in places you never expected.

Pregnant women will definitely have areas their back, legs and feet that will need extra stretching in addition to the stretching that Yoga provides which helps them to work out the kinks and relieve the tension from the stress-prone areas.

Yoga also involves relaxation techniques. This relaxation section usually comes last after the yoga classes and videos. For pregnant women this can be a wonderful time to connect to your baby and to let your body be fully relaxed.

For pregnant women when your body is undergoing so many changes that focused relaxation is always important for you. During this time you get the occasion to be on yourself and not to think about anything else apart from relaxing. When you are able to do this well and there are no problems you begin to sense a moment with your baby which is a wonderful familiarity.

Bodyweight Strength Exercises - Functional Strength Anywhere and Anytime

Most people think of bodyweight training as a stop-gap measure that can take the place of equipment based training when in a pinch. Nothing could be further from the truth. For centuries - even millennia - men of many cultures have been using bodyweight exercise to build impressive levels of strength and power.

We need look no further than the old-school yogi for proof. Although our modern day westernized version of yoga may not inspire visions of strength, the traditional physical culture called yoga was indeed imbibed with vitality and vigor. Tough old yogis could perform equally well in the realm of strength as they could in yielding flexibility.

Bodyweight, like any other form of resistance, can be applied to many different goals. In order to target strength, we need only choose and arrange our exercises into protocols which we know will work for that goal.

Strength is a function of two things, the size of the muscle, and the connection between the muscle and the brain. So in other words it depends on the raw horsepower that you possess and your ability to call on that horsepower when you need it. If the mind-muscle connection is not robust, you will not be able to tap into your full strength.

This ability to tap into more muscle fibers on demand is one of the aspects that the Bodyweight Exercise Revolution strength program takes advantage of with great success. Among the various protocols we use to elicit the desired adaptation is the Ballistic Method.

This method is performed through an explosive movement that actually causes you to lift off the ground. We shoot for between 5 and 10 repetitions depending on the exercise (the resistance offered will be different for each exercise). We look to stop when we can no longer create that explosive movement and the repetitions start to slow down.

The explosive nature of the exercise sends a strong signal to the muscle and recruits a significant number of muscle fibers, thus strengthening that all important neuromuscular link.

A great exercise for this is the Quad Squat from the Circular Strength Training® system. One of the big complaints most people have about bodyweight exercise is the lack of variety. But the truth is, the number of bodyweight exercise variations is almost limitless. Take a look at this youtube.com/watch?v=5Q5v3WaT-yY innovative bodyweight exercise here on YouTube. You'll see immediately that if you simply add an explosive push off the ground to the Quad Squat it becomes a perfect exercise for the Ballistic Method.

Give it a try for yourself. Do five sets of 5 to 10 repetitions, stopping when your reps start to slow down. Rest two to three minutes between sets. You'll find that your strength in other pressing exercises will begin to improve after three to four weeks of supplementing with this form of bodyweight training.

And the best thing is you can do this anywhere and anytime. If you travel a lot, are very busy or don't like the cramped bustle of commercial gyms, you can do bodyweight exercise in the smallest of spaces with little time commitment.

Triathlon - Off Season Training

Triathlon off season training is, as the name suggests, different from the triathlon training during the rest of the year. It is a time of the year when usually things like open water swimming are not really possible and it is probably wise to get that knee/shoulder checked. It is time for recovery and fun training.

I lot of people feel that the off season triathlon training is boring. It is all about the long run, recovering, there are no races to keep you excited and family engagements during the holiday season can ruin your training plans.

But it really doesn't have to be that way. Rather than having a strict plan and count the miles every time you go out for a ride or a run, why not just try a more relax approach. Add new routes, try a different stroke in the pool, leave your road bike at home and try mounting biking instead.

And swimming, cycling and running are not the only things you can do to keep yourself fit during the off season. Go skiing or snowboarding, try yoga (it helps those core muscles and you can do it with your other half), go hiking with your family and friends.

Yes, it is important to build a good base during the winter, but if you are not having fun and if you do not vary your training, you can easily get demotivated and even injured.

It is helpful to have a playful attitude and rather than thinking "I need to go for a 1.5k swim tomorrow at 6am in a cold January morning", say to yourself "I'm going for a splash in the pool and may just do backstroke and balance on my back".

Triathlon off season training is probably more important than the peak training done during the competitive season. Apart from building the foundation for a successful season, it is an opportunity to improve your technique in each discipline. As you probably know better technique means faster splits and less injuries.

It is also a good time to read that triathlon book you got as a present for your birthday and check your gear. Take good care of your triathlonwetsuits220.com/triathlon-wetsuit/triathlon-wetsuits triathlon wetsuit and service your bike.

Remember, training is good, but having fun while doing it is even better. Turn triathlon off season base training into fun training.

Whenever you check the meaning of the Sanskrit word Ashtanga you can come to realize that it is often a word that means eight limbs. The origin with the word dates back to the time when a mystic referred to as Patanjali coined the term. Sadhana - Personal Spiritual Discipline

The student or sadhaka is prepared to undertake a programme of self discipline in order to improve his character, achieve psychological cleansing of past difficulties, and follow the traditional methods of Yogic practice that will lead to spiritual experience and realization of the truths of life.

The natural law that determines each of us grows through self effort is recognized and adhered to and it is up to the aspiration and determination of each student that personal spiritual progress is made under the watchful eye of the Guru. This classical system is still followed by some but in western adaptation of the training process there are some considerable modifications.

Firstly, there are many professional teachers to guide a student in Hatha Yoga but in western life it is a very rare relationship to find a devoted life student who reveres a wiser person as his mentor and spiritual teacher. It is equally unusual to find a wise individual who is prepared to undertake the responsibility of such a personal charge that embraces physical and spiritual training of another. Consequently any transmission of wisdom and guidance is based upon impersonal general philosophical teachings rather than through spiritual intimacy. The individual aspirant is forced to a large extent to rely upon his own integrity and his own intuition in applying the spiritual directives in the Yogic system.

These principles apply and are a reliable guide to those who wish to advance their self culture and invite further understanding of life through their own development of spiritual consciousness. The prescribed common disciplines and exercises are practised according to individual enthusiasm and sense of purpose. Each of these should be studied carefully.

Yamas/Niyamas are moral and ethical values. It is usual to accept these as they are inherent in all cultures and civilizations and every enduring religion is based upon the restraints that are demanded that we do not behave with violence or by stealing for instance and the need to cultivate the nobler qualities of loving kindness and truth. There are corresponding guidelines applied to health in Hatha Yoga.

Asanas - teach us of the need for correct attitudes of mind and body

Pranayama - demonstrates many practical ways of increasing and directing energies constructively through respiration

Pratyahara - reminds us of the need to cultivate and control all of our senses that we are not enslaved by them but apply our sensitivities appropriately

Dharana - is then able to be achieved without distraction as we learn how to cultivate the mind and control our emotional and thinking processes through psychological self- understanding

Dhyana - is the passive control of the mind to allow a calm and receptive state in which we find soul refreshment through meditation and contemplation

Samadhi - indicates the arrival at a state of being beyond activity and effort where we become receptive to the Universal spiritual energies and wisdom of our human race. This is a unique, sublime spiritual experience.

Through our personal self culture, self discipline and personal aspiration, known as Sadhana, we have opportunity to assure our physical and psychological health and to directly experience the rewards of spiritual consciousness.

Becoming a Yoga Teacher - Three Challenges

To become a Yoga teacher is rewarding, but it is contains daily challenges. Below are three different challenges that Yoga teacher interns should put to rest. Even if these challenges do not apply to us personally, it is good to be aware of them for our personal health and that of others.

The Perfection Trap

None of us is perfect. The longer we live, the more imperfections we find within ourselves. A mild case of being a perfectionist can strain or destroy relationships. An excessive case can become a form of excessive compulsive disorder. This can cause behavior that makes one feel compelled to constantly check for potential mistakes that might reveal his or her personal imperfections.

One of the basics in our foundational Yoga training is to let go of judgment. Yet, how many of us can let it go? If we are programmed to be perfect for 30 years, can we stop today? Letting go of the excessive demand for perfection is a gradual process, which may require professional counseling.

There is nothing wrong with wanting life to be perfect; however, you can tell when it is getting out of hand, when the relationships around you are suffering because of it. In this case, it may require counseling for a family or a couple.

On the other hand, a person, who lives in complete disorganization, is apt to create frustration with people who have organized lives. There is a delicate balance between the desire to improve and the demand for perfection.

Fear of Relationships

Each of us has life experiences which occur, due to vulnerability that is part of the relationship-forming process. When we extend ourselves toward another human being, we open ourselves up to the rewards and consequences of negative or positive emotions.

This can happen in any type of relationship. In the teacher/student relationship, the teacher's feelings should be more reserved. There should be a "mental" line drawn between a professional relationship and any extension of emotional attachment.

Helping Everyone but You

This is like the carpenter, who repairs everyone's home, but never has the time to fix his or her own house. This desire to help everyone first happens to professionals and trades people of all kinds. With that said - the most common reason people teach Yoga to others is to share the gift of being able to help others help themselves.

Yoga is a method of self-healing that requires each of us to invest time in our personal practice - regardless of how many years we have been practicing.

How to Develop Your Psychic Potential

There is no series of exercises or mythical magic potion of that will rapidly endow instant psychic talent on you. As with all skills, it takes time and effort for to develop your psychic abilities. Some people suggest that doing yoga will help, and while it is possible that mental and physical exercises can be an aid to developing your psychic awareness, I think that if you like doing yoga, do it for its own sake, and not purely as an aid to develop your psychic potential.

An important point to remember at the outset is that not every sensitive person has the same kind of psychic gift. The most common effect is to feel things or to be aware of things on a sub-conscious level, however, some people are definite psychic receptors, while others are physical mediums who have the ability to move things around with their minds. Some see ghosts; others see auras, while some are healers or mediums who can bridge the gap between the living and the dead.

I am often asked if you need to become vegetarian or vegan to be a psychic. It is true that the worldwide interest in spirituality began in the 70s with bands such as the Beatles travelling to India and visiting several Yogi there. As a result of this the Hindu and Buddhist ways of life quickly spread throughout the western world, bringing vegetarianism with them.

I personally know many psychics that are vegetarian, however I know just as many if not more that are meat eaters. If you have a personal belief that eating meat will block your psychic abilities then by all means lead a vegetarian lifestyle, it may even be good karma if you believe in reincarnation!

To begin developing your psychic abilities you could join a spiritualist church or a psychic centre in your area. There are also specialist magazines that will advertise training on Tarot, palmistry, and astrology. Always research an opportunity fully before committing to it as there are a lot of scam artists who will gladly take your money and offer no training in how to develop your psychic potential.

I found the best place to start was my local library, this offered a huge range of books and magazines on all aspects of spirituality. Read widely from many different authors to get a good perspective and a range of views on each topic, do not treat everything you read as true and use your common sense before delving too deeply into certain areas. Listen to your inner voice when you are deciding on the path to take in developing your psychic potential, your conscience and your sub-conscious will look after you.

Good luck on your journey.

Yoga For Strengthening The Lower Back

Strengthening the lumbar area or lower back can augment your performance in almost all types of sports in the process of maintaining a routine free from injury. One way of doing this is through the practice of yoga.

The lower back acts as a fulcrum for the human body, sort of a hinge that joins the lower body to the upper body. The structure of this area is designed to twist from one side to the other, bend backward, forward, right and left. This ample range of movement causes the area considerable stress in our day-to-day activities.

The muscles of the lumbar region serve as shock absorbers when running, jumping or falling. They stop the shock from traveling up the spinal vertebras, spinal disks & their ligaments. These areas are not equipped to take excessive straining; in the long run they become vulnerable to tearing & rupturing.

Strong muscles in this area support the vertebral column by maintaining its natural curves. The curves are designed to distribute the forces equally and offer stability during movement. When the curvature becomes excessive because weak muscles cannot provide enough support, that's when pain is felt in this area as well as in other sections of the body. Strong lumbar muscles in collaboration with strong abdominal muscles help counteract the effect of gravity by lengthening the vertebral disk spaces. This puts a stop to their grinding against each other as you are in motion.

A 3-time champion of the World Flying Disc Federation, Janet Wong met an accident which caused her to deal with severe back pain. The doctors did everything in their power to correct this. They even tried physical therapy but all their efforts proved futile.

She turned to yoga, which she had been practicing for 1-? years. She invested patience on the habitual practice of asana hoping that she could play Frisbee again. It took a little over a year for the determined athlete to reap the fruits of her toil. Little by little the pain diminished until she played again without feeling a continuous discomfort.

The practice of yoga enabled her to specifically build a sturdy yet limber back and abdomen. The core of the body, of which the lower back is a component of, is the center of power. If this core is well built, then any dynamic individual is capable of jumping, running, & twisting adeptly.

The Dandasana or Staff Pose and the Trikonasana or Triangle Pose coupled by forward bends will strengthen these muscles creating a "natural girdle."

Male Masturbation, Autofellatio, and Sexual Yoga For Exotic Pleasure Exploration

Is it possible to engage in exotic forms of male masturbation, utilizing Yoga as a tool for autofellatio, to explore more distant forms of sexual pleasure?

The answer is "Yes." Masturbation is simply a form of autosexuality where a man (or woman) engages in self-stimulation to reach an orgasm or to induce feelings of pleasure. This practice is not just relegated to Homo Sapiens. In fact, it has been noted throughout a great deal of the rest of the critters in the world.

Regarding human beings: while these masturbatory techniques are typically employed when an individual is alone (hence the "auto" in autosexuality), this isn't always the case. It is not uncommon for partners to masturbate in front of each other as a form of sexual exploration and arousal. There is also a wide array of videos, literature, exhibitionism, and pictures of people performing masturbation. Clearly there is a strong sexual connection with masturbation and its ability to create arousal through its voyeuristic nature.

Of course, there are many methods of masturbation. From using mechanical devices to just erotic thoughts. One method that men can utilize to masturbate is through the practice of autofellatio. This simply means that a man is able to perform fellatio (oral sex) on himself. Men aren't the only ones who can utilize this technique; women can, too. Autofellatio is also found in the animal kingdom and is more apparent with other animals than man.

One of the best ways for a man to engage in this exotic form of sexuality is to increase the flexibility of his spine. The reason for this is that the one anatomical structure that connects the mouth to the penis is the spine. However, the spine is also the main anatomical structure that separates the mouth from the penis. Once we understand this basic concept, we can focus on the main causative factor that separates the men who can autofellate and those who cannot.

Yoga is one method of increasing flexibility and range-of-motion in the spine. I think we've all seen pictures, or in real life, of men (and women) in Yoga poses that seem almost impossible to be able to execute. While seemingly impossible, just some basic understanding of how the body biomechanically works will allow most people to realize that such poses aren't so "impossible" after all.

So, then, if we can learn some of the Yogic teachings and maybe throw in a little modern-age physical therapeutics then we might really have a recipe that will allow men to achieve autofellatio. The key is to be able to train oneself in such a way that it is accomplished in a safe and intelligent manner.

Once the ability to autofellate has been attained, then men can certainly explore this form of very deep and personal sexual pleasure.

Best of luck with your journey.

Exploring unconventional methods of sexuality; methods that our ancestors enjoyed and impassioned themselves with, is one of my interests. Those men who are interested in autofellatio should read yogafellatio.com Yogafellatio. It is a book that helps guide men in this form of sexuality.

In recent times happinesslifetime.com yoga instructor certification has become more important than ever. A student questionnaire is highly recommended because it is essential as their teacher that you understand every student's overall health, medical conditions, fitness level and general history.

Teachers who have been teaching for an extended period of time may not have had any kind of certification available to them. That's why it's essential even the most seasoned trainers ensure that their are covered.

On a positive note, if you are a professional teacher you may be able to receive some sort of credit or recognition for your past experience and your training already undertaken.

The Minimum Certification Requirement

There is a minimum requirement and that's 200 hours of study. What must be included in any course you undertake is virtually every facet of running a yoga business including anatomy, physiology, safety, modifications and contraindications.

The Purpose of Yoga - Solutions for Releasing Anxiety

Yoga is a 5,000 year catalog of health solutions and an evolving science of life. Therefore, here are some "age old" Yogic solutions for releasing anxiety. To make them work, you must realize that you have to make a habit of releasing a little anxiety, within acceptable limits, all day long.

Physical practice of Yoga postures (Asanas) will release muscular tension. Make a habit of physically practicing as you sit, stand, or lie down. You do not have to put on a "Yoga show" to sit straight, stand straight, tilt, twist, or bend.

As humans, we are in motion most of the time, but you can move or stand still with purpose and mindfulness. Once you establish Yoga into your life "off the Yoga mat," you will be surprised how often you and people around you are regularly sitting, or standing, in poor posture, during the course of an average day.

Observation is very important. As you wake up, observe the muscle groups and joints, which have contracted, as you slept. These contractions can cause daily muscle tension, spasms, pains, and aches. Is the tension in your face, back, neck, shoulders, legs, arms, or hips?

Get to know how your body responds to mild warm-ups and develop routines to compensate for physical tension. The connection between mental and physical tension is symbiotic. If you resolve a physical form of tension, you will resolve mental tension, as well.

In Hatha Yoga, there are more than 1500 postures to choose from. Many of us have seen charts, or books, with 500 to 600 Asanas to choose from. If you become creative, you will soon discover many more while sitting in a chair.

You can practice Yoga while you are at your desk, in your bed, on your couch, on a bus, or when you walk. When you add the breathing component, (Pranayama), to your daily life, you have many more combinations of techniques.

Here's another approach to dealing with anxiety. However, you must use it in the right time and place. Do not be silent! Let it out vocally. Some people laugh, pray, sing, cry, or shout, but each method works at the right time. So, be tactful, if you decide to make noise.

If you hold it all in, you will burst - in the figurative and literal sense. Therefore, you have to release it in some way. Some people roll up the windows in their cars and scream at the top of their lungs. In truth, whatever works is a good thing.

We will not have the same reactions to anxiety. Some people will laugh, while others cry during identical circumstances. Look at how some people react to losing a job. Some people have a party, while another person may contemplate suicide.

In a typical Yoga class, you may learn Mantra and Japa. These are powerful methods and are very beneficial in combination with Pranayama.

Lastly, anxiety is energy, which is not always negative, but can be deflected or circulated, throughout your being. Yogic solutions work, but they must be practiced daily. You do not want to collect and store negative feelings, so carefully release them back into the universe.

Yoga and Weight Training - Never the Twain Shall Meet?

Yoga has become part of Western fitness training techniques. However, there are some who have never tried it, relegating it as a hippie trend from the 60's. Those individuals would rather look at their flexed bicep in the mirror at their gym. They look for the feedback loop from that experience which gives them the feeling of "working out". This is definitely the group they want to be in. They consider themselves the hard core fitness enthusiasts and label yoga as something for women in white leotards. Is there any truth to this?

The answer lies in a more general definition of fitness. We need to step back and look at the big picture. Those who participate in any kind of exercise, do so to improve their physical fitness level. There is also the benefit of feeling good, mentally and emotionally. Fitness satisfies the needs of the body, mind and spirit. It is a great feedback loop to make the human being better able to handle the world around them.

Traditional Western fitness methodologies have addressed the need for cardiovascular improvements, benefits from resistance training and stretching. Cardiovascular methods are defined by those activities which increase the heart rate to a specified zone and keep it there for the duration of the activity, a minimum of 20 minutes. These activities include running, walking, cycling, swimming, and hiking as natural activities. When weather or other conditions do not permit outside activity, machines can be utilised such as cross-trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes.

All training that is carried on in Western style fitness programs are based on physical reactions to external stimuli. If your mind is not focussed on the exercise, there is still some benefit to the actions alone. However, all fitness enthusiasts are constantly reminded that they need to be focussed on the activity to obtain the greatest benefit from it. Lifting a weight still has its physical implications if the action is carried out as if one were on auto-pilot.

Yoga was invented to bring the human being to the same goal of achieving fitness through a different approach. The word Yoga means joining in Sanskrit. The science of yoga aims to join the disparate body, mind and spirit into an integrated human being who is better able to interact with the outside world in a more efficient manner. The practice was invented in India, 5000 years ago and was developed into a science by observing the effects of various body and mind states on the overall human being. In yoga, one must be focussed or the effects are simply not there. The mind acts on the physical body and it responds in turn. In order to improve the state of the being, then, both body and mind must be focussed or joined to an integral viewpoint.

In a more general sense, the Eastern science of body-mind interaction further implies that all diseases of the body can be cured through the power of yoga. Yoga is not just about the physical body. Yoga incorporates many mental techniques for gaining command over the physical body. Breathing exercises were developed to gain control over one's own mind. Many different breathing exercises were developed in order to produce different physical results. All of them have warnings attached to them for special populations. In fact physical yogic positions or asanas are also limiting to certain special populations. Each such exercise needs to be taught in more detail to participants, rather than in a haphazard way as a general method for fitness to all populations. The exceptions should be understood so that people do not experience negative effects from the yoga asanas. It is therefore important to have a teacher who is aware of contraindicated populations for all exercises. This information is well known for traditional resistance training, but is not taught to populations studying yoga.

The beauty of yoga is its absolute dependence on nothing but the human being. No external equipment is necessary. However, it is important to focus the body and mind in an integrated way. Ultimately, ones spiritual energy is awakened. The person is better able to interact with the world in a more efficient way. This is the goal of yoga.

In those cases, where the teacher does not understand yoga properly, negative effects can occur. In the previously discussed case, the special populations need to be considered. The second problem with incorrect or incomplete information lies in the release of latent energy through the practice of breathing exercises and physical and mental practices. One's internal spiritual energy is latent, active or energised. If the energy is not released properly, or is not directed properly, or is released from an incorrect area of the body, very detrimental effects will occur in the person.

It is in the best interests of all yoga students to seek the advice and instruction of a recognized professional from a school such as Swami Vivekananda Yoga Institute (SVYASA) which carries out research in yoga in a scientific way. It is recognized for its technical research by medical institutions all over the world.

Yoga is not just for hippies or women in white leotards. Care should be taken not to fall into the trap of someone else's mere idea of fitness, rather than a thoroughly researched 5000 year old body of verified knowledge.

The Principle Behind Christian Yoga

Christian yoga is a spiritual practice of Christians most common in Eastern and Western Countries. It is a discipline that one practices to be much closer to God. Taking the path of Christian yoga can lead to healing of the mind and body. But perhaps even more important than that, it can lead to the discovery of what at the moment is only a potential within you.

Many of classes in the U.S teach the practice of yoga, the physical discipline that focuses on postures or asana, and employ no religious teaching at all. Other yoga teachers have training in yoga schools.

Practitioners say that Christian yoga fills a need for believers who want the health benefits of yoga but are put off by the practice's ancient Hindu roots. With this, it brings together the wonderful physical benefits of yoga within their spiritual beliefs.

The doctrines and practices of yoga date from the period of the Upanishads. The word yoga originated from Hindus, it is a religious practice of Hinduism that through the practice of certain disciplines one may achieve liberation from the limitations of flesh, the delusions of sense, and the pitfalls of thought and thus attain union with the object of knowledge.

Though developed in the ancient Hindu tradition, the movements of Christian yoga are so universal that they can adapt to or be adopted by any culture or spiritual path.

The yoga has been known for many years, and was practiced by some of the Early Christian during the persecution. The spirit and love that touched the Early Christian has been inherent from the men and women today. Christian yoga is about unfolding some of these wonderful possibilities each hold latent. It is about possibilities so amazing that many early Christians were willing to die in support of keeping a doorway open for other people to claim them. Go into it and are transformed by following the Christian pathway, the Christian yoga.

In the Eastern belief, Christian yoga is not an Eastern postures or breathing techniques, rather the aim is to open to an influence that can transform and heal. Eastern yoga attempts to drop the ego, the Christian path aims at transforming the personality. Christian yoga is described absolutely in the New Testament in the story of Jesus' life as an allegory. It is a step-by-step way of transformation and the finding of a new life. As Jesus promised, this 'heaven', this new awareness of your life, is not far away. It is already yours if you know how to find it.

In Western, Christian yoga from its very beginning women played an important role in its practice and teachings. It is about universal processes of life, of mind and heart.

Christian yoga has garnered criticism, despite of its prevalence.

Many Christians says that Christian yoga is incompatible with Christianity, and emphasizing that it is not a religion in itself. Other says that there is no such as Christian yoga because it blends two different belief structure. Catholic priests in Mexico City instructed their parishioners not to attend Yoga classes because this practice would lead to other god's and Eastern religion beliefs.

Though critics have charged that yoga's ancient Hindu origins are incompatible with Christian faith, practitioners say the exercise is an ideal vehicle for spiritual reflection.

Hatha Yoga - The "Yoga of Postures" - The Ancient and Spiritual Path

It is the most popular branch of Yoga. People call it "Yoga of postures". Hatha Yoga is so ancient, and its main concept is that a strong and relaxed body guarantees a spiritual progress. Its goals are to have a strong, healthy, flexible and relaxed body. The word "Hatha" means "sun + moon", which symbolizes the opposite currents in the system of the human body. This is because Hatha Yoga depends on a set of exercises, which supply the body with positive and negative currents, and so, it neutralizes the harmful energies in the body and increases beneficial energies, making the person more active and productive. This is due to the stable state the body reaches on practicing it.

There are so many Yoga styles originated from Hatha Yoga, e.g. Bikram Yoga, Ashatanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Power Yoga. In Hatha Yoga, the yogi concentrates on breathing while practicing the different postures, and so, they train their mind to concentrate and function properly. By using Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing), and meditation, you achieve a perfect health, and free mind and spirit. Hatha Yoga concentrates on Asanas and Pranayama to energize and clear the energy channels "the Nadis". In addition, this removes all the obstacles that exist to start smoothly on the other limbs of Yoga (the remaining limbs of the 8 limbs of Yoga), which are Dharana, Pratyahara, Dhyana, and Samadha.

Ahimsa is one of the principles of Hatha Yoga; it means peacefulness in thoughts, deeds, and actions to the human beings, to the self, and to all the living creatures.

Here in Hatha Yoga, the Asanas designed to improve the general health and bring energies to the body. In addition, it serves as a meditation pose making you feel perfectly comfortable for a longer period. Being well acquainted with Asanas, you can develop your will power, concentration and self-withdrawal. Moreover, it massages and tones the internal organs, which helps in the prevention and treatment of so many disease, e.g. the chronic ones like Diabetes, Arthritis, Hypertension and Heart diseases,...etc. All of these Asanas benefits; open the path directly to Prathyahara and Dharana.

Pranayamas is so essential in Hatha Yoga practice, too. It is always the matter of breathing, if you are breathing correctly during the Yoga exercise, and in such a way that is good to your body, you guarantee a good control on your mind, this also helps asthmatic patients and those who suffer from bronchitis and improve their health. Pranayamas regulates the flow of vital energy in the body, which is required for initializing Samadhi. In addition, its practice leads to the awakening of the Kundalini energy.

In general, Hatha Yoga is so beneficial, you can benefit from it in so many different ways. You can relieve tension, and you can cope and deal with any kind of stress, anxiety and depression. It is great; you should experience that magnifacient feeling while you practice it. You will feel that a divine light shines within you, bringing you stronger, more flexible and so relaxed.

There is no wonder it is the most popular branch of Yoga. People who try it once, stick to its classes and never miss any. You should try it yourself and let us know your own opinion. On regular practicing, you will become familiar with its postures and exercises, and then, you can practice it on your own, even if you are at home. For the best results, you should practice it on regular basis, so that your body gets use to it, and its energy becomes stable and beneficial. Go ahead have fun, and have a nice Yoga class.
