The Awakening

In 1990 I received a calling to go to India with my good friend and partner Jim Smith. I closed down my business, packed away a few belongings and said goodbye to my family and friends to meet up with my first guru, Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi ("Swamiji"), a Kundalini Master from an ancient lineage in the Tamil Nadu state in South India. I had been apprenticing with Swamiji for five years and it had been at his suggestion we created The Self Awareness Institute back in 1985 to teach these methods of enlightenment to a western world in a western way.

During those first few months staying at Swamiji's ashram in a suburb of Madras I began to notice a profound shift in my awareness. While sitting in meditation 12 hours at a time each day, my awareness was liberated from my mind and the presence of God was no longer objectified by my mind or limited by it. His gift to me was the presence felt in his presence, a natural state of being that was not subjugated by the mind and senses...a perfect peace. A peace that had always been, and is, unchanging, but now the mind was aligned and at peace with it. Nothing actually happened, it just is, but my mind was at peace with it at last.

After receiving Swamiji's blessings, I left the ashram to pay my respects to the Arch Yogi Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi Maharaj (also "Swamiji"). A yogi I originally heard about from Satya Sai Baba and Satchan Charan Lahiri, of the Kriya lineage, who both encouraged me to see him. This yogi had sat in samadhi for 23 hours a day for 8 years of his life, and then for 12 hours a day for another 4 years, and had tremendous powers to heal and enlighten through the transmission of this Shakti, or life force energy, called Shaktipat. It was this Yogi that supercharged my own sadhana, or meditative practice, and had me increase my Shakti through what is called Yoga Tapas.

While sitting in Bangalore, India, Sri Swamiji had me increase my sitting time up to 16 hours, 20 hours, and then up to 23 hours a day for 40 consecutive days and nights. Under his guidance my body and mind was being developed to be a vehicle of this Divine Love, or Darshan, and upon completing this training he installed me into his lineage and gave me his blessings to give Shaktipat. Shaktipat is what you feel on the free intro calls we hold each month. Upon completing this Yoga Tapas I was given a revelation of the impending awakening of consciousness that is presently occurring throughout the collective consciousness of humanity. It is this revelation that is shared in my new book The Awakening: An Evolutionary Leap in Human Consciousness that has just been re-released. You are part of this awakening as is evidenced by your reading of these words. I hope you enjoy the book and join us in uplifting the consciousness of the planet. May the whole world live in happiness and peace.

From the heart, Steven S. Sadleir

Positive Benefits of Yoga

Many people think that doing exercise has to be hard or difficult. They also believe that they can't combine many different exercise programs. They feel that a mixture is bad as the two programs might not get along. However, most people often overlook Yoga.

Yoga can be practice by itself or it can be combined to enhance the effectiveness of other exercise programs or sports. In fact many times it can greatly aid other sports. There are many pro football players that practice yoga as a supplement to their training. They do this because yoga places a lower stress on their body than some of the workouts that they do normally. They also do this because yoga has been shown to be able increase flexibility and suppleness of a person's muscles. This flexibility greatly helps them on the football field.

Another benefit of yoga is that you can practice it anywhere that you want to. You can practice it in the privacy of your own home, on the beach or at a health club. It is also easy to do. You don't have to worry about working up a sweat if you don't want to(or unless you do hot room yoga). It is generally recommended that if you are a beginner though, you should make sure to sign up for a local yoga class. The reason for this is to make sure that you learn how to properly do your yoga techniques.

Your self-confidence and understanding of yourself will all improve with constant yoga practice. Part of this will be from teaching you how to reduce stress and anxiety, however, yoga can also teach you to live in the now and help you get rid of pesky negative self talk.

In addition to helping you work on the relationship that you have with yourself, yoga can help you with your relationships with others. Many times people who have poor relationships with themselves, have poor relationships with others. So by working on yourself, you will be able to work on having good relationships with others. You won't always have to be worrying about things that you can't control and bad habits; with yoga you will be able to overcome them.

The Actual Fundamentals Regarding Feng Shui

"Whether we decide to keep things or share things is determined by the difference between the left and right sides of the particular body"

Folks are super easy to program, entire civilizations are programmed by the ads in their TVs. The very first thing you observe once you enter a room programs you, so if there is no apparent focus, you feel unfocused. That's a euphemism for sloppy! When you devote lots of time there, your life is infused with that unfocused energy. So put a powerful target for the eyes for when you first walk into each room. But, while that can create more focus within your own life, it won't necessarily get rid of accumulation and procrastination.

Here we get into sorting the strands that make up the material of the galaxy. Our own environments are reflections of our own bodily and energetic body as we are creatures of proportion as well as dimensions. There are 2 particularly important measurements at work here. One relates to whether or not we choose to hold onto things or share things, and this specific is determined by the main difference between the right and left sides of your total body.

The left part is where we keep things. It is where our stomach collects meals; our spleen collects energy and where we really feel the emotions that come from our hearts. Whenever you carry a brand new infant, you put their head on your left breast so that they feel the beating of your heart. If the emphasis for your eyes is to the left side of the room or to the left of the body, the room has a tendency to hold the past. This is the reason rooms with entry doorways within the left side tend to become more cluttered and chaotic.

The right area on the body is where we find the liver and gallbladder. These are internal organs that transform and share the particular resources. It's the social part of the particular body. It's the right palm which we offer in greeting. It is the future part of the human body since the change of other people from strangers to friends is really a motion into the future. In case your surrounding is overstuffed and you also feel trapped in the past, place the targets on the right side of the room and definitely to the right of your human body. Your eyes and ears project energy. Where that energy goes is significant. Whenever you gather the actual light power that pours from your eye balls and sprinkle it in the way that your own body sees as the future, walking that pathway gets much easier. Locking on things that keep you within the past turns a lot less appealing.

The other important dimension is the height of the body. There's the head, the body and the legs. The mind is concerned with the future, the cardiovascular system and the abdomen with the current, and the knees and the feet with what was achieved in the past. The height at which you place that powerful focus for the eye balls establishes which aspect of your life you focus on.

"Putting photos and refractive surfaces at heart level helps keep love an engaged component of your own life"

This is the reason moving into a new house can be so bothersome; things are on the ground, or bending against the wall. So long as it keeps there, you remain stuck, reliving your previous choices. If you wish to get on with life, put up your own photos first. That will raise the dynamic circulation to the greater levels; the present and the future. We are excellent believers in putting the main focus at heart level. This keeps you comfortably within the present and moving towards the future. In general, putting pictures and refractive surfaces at heart level helps in keeping love a dynamic element in your life.

Physiologically, if the emphasis is low, the head must dip and the spine needs to bend to observe it. This reduces the perfect flow of electrical power up the backbone. In companies, it is a good idea to put the focus at eye level to encourage people to stand straighter, feel more poised and plainly pointed towards the future.

Choose the pictures or items for the focus properly. What you understand is what you'll write! They are your instructions for the universe so don't be shy, be optimistic. Decide what part of yourself you would like to focus on. You've got the choice of me or we, and the option to live in the past, present or even future. Put the pictures where you decide you need it, then, perhaps push it just a little higher and towards the right, if you are underestimating what you should have. Courage! The barricades of the self melt away when the paths to the future are assured.

Yoga Teacher Training Aspects - Class Presentation

Once you have become a certified Yoga instructor, there are a number of ingredients involved in your class presentation and future growth. Any person, who teaches any subject, must have good diplomatic skills. The leap from student to teacher is a large one, and it comes with newfound responsibilities.

You must make it a point to learn your students' names and mentally retain them. You will want to greet each student by name with a smile. You must be prompt for class, happy, calm, helpful, encouraging, respectful, positive, and courteous, at all times - even when you have your own problems.

The strongest positive point, in arriving to class 15 minutes early, is "environmental concerns." If we show up to class late, the thermostat is not set right, water is on the floor, the power is out in the room, or the fan does not work. The result is, your Yoga class will not start on time, and your energy is not focused on the class.

You should be mentally prepared, well groomed, have music with you (if you use it), and be wearing the proper clothing to teach a Yoga class. You should have a class lesson plan in your mind. Lesson plan notes seem to take away your students' confidence in you. Students should have a perception of confidence in you and your teaching method.

You should respond to questions. One student may ask a question, which is on other student's minds. At the same time, it is important to avoid digressing. So, stick to the point, avoid tangents, and get back to your lesson plan, after you have politely answered a question. At the same time, be prepared to elaborate with your students after, or before, your Yoga classes.

You may also want to share a small example of Yogic philosophy, or a quote, applied to daily life, at some point during your class. I usually cover something related to daily life at the end of class, after meditation.

As much as the importance of starting on time has been mentioned, it is also important to end the class at the scheduled time. Some Yoga teachers start late and end late. Others want to add one more sequence or have too much material on their lesson plan. Show respect to your students.

They have lives and obligations outside of your Yoga class. If you want to reduce stress in their lives, end your class at the scheduled time. The students who want to know more about Yoga will "hang around" after class.

How to Motivate Yourself For an After-Work Workout

Make it Routine

If you do the same thing at the same time day after day, it will eventually become routine. You will start to do it without thinking much about it, which means doing it without excuses! If you can determine a specific time that you will workout after work and do it daily for a solid week it will start to feel a bit like second nature. Do it for two weeks straight and you will feel it is routine and the excuses should be out the door.

Join a Personal Training Gym in NYC

Personal training gyms in NYC are different from regular gyms because all members come in to work with personal trainers for scheduled appointments. When you join a personal training gym in NYC you are guaranteeing that you will workout after work at least a couple days a week. You will still be able to workout from home on other days, if not having to travel is easier for you.

Make it Fun

Exercise doesn't have to be boring or difficult. If you find something that you really enjoy doing it will be much easier to make yourself do it. Spend some time trying out different workout tapes or head to the gym and try out all the different equipment. If you can afford to hire a personal trainer for just one session they will be able to introduce you to a variety of different workout options that you might enjoy.Try out some group exercise classes. Go for an outdoor fitness boot camp class in NYC one night and Pilates or yoga the next. You never know what you will find enjoyable until you try it.

Reward Yourself

Set small rewards that can be collected after each full week of exercising every evening consistently. Try to make the rewards fitness related, such as a new pair of cross trainer shoes, workout clothes, or a new fitness DVD.

Out of all these recommendations, joining a personal training gym in NYC so you have access to skilled personal trainers is the best one. Not only does this help get you out the door for your after-work workout, but it ensures that your workouts are going to be effective so you really see results. How Lungs React When You Hold Your Breath During Yoga

Holding your breath during yoga may have a negative effect at times, and a positive effect at other times. What happens with the function of the lungs when you hold your breath? And are other organs and physiological processes affected?

Function of the Lungs

The lungs are sometimes described as bellows. The function of the lungs is to receive oxygen rich air. They receive this through bronchial tubes that pierce them. They also expel from the body carbon dioxide and other waste products from the cells.

Cells also need energy. They get energy through oxygen. The nose and trachea bring oxygen into the lungs. The lungs are like two big sponges with millions of tiny bubbles connected to each other. At the end of the bronchial tree are the alveoli, little sacs that hold air. Blood vessels wrap around these air sacs.

An important exchange occurs in the air sacs. Molecules of oxygen leave the air sacs and pass into the lungs. And at the same time, the carbon dioxide passes from the blood to the air sacs to be exhaled.

Yoga and the Lobes of the Lung

Blood is distributed through the entire lung unevenly. The lower lobes of the lungs have more blood supply than the upper lobes. The complete yogic breath fills all 3 lobes. And deep exhalations help to release stale air from the bottom of the lungs. Forceful exhalations practiced in some yoga breathing exercises are quite purifying.

Conscious Holding

When the breath is held, there is more time for waste products to be collected in the air sac before exhalation. In some yoga practices it is common to end each movement or release a posture, with a deep breath that fills all 3 lobes of the lungs. The breath is consciously held for at least 5 seconds before its forceful expulsion or gentle exhalation; and then the posture is released.

Unconscious Holding

Beginners to yoga sometimes hold the breath unconsciously especially in challenging situations. This type of holding of your breath is always discouraged. All tissues in the body need oxygen during exercise. To hold your breath unconsciously stops the efficient functioning of the lungs, and creates slight tension in the nervous system.

During yoga, breathing through the tough times with conscious rhythmic breathing from the diaphragm creates relaxation in the nervous system. It trains the nervous system to relax under pressure in daily life and develop stress hardiness. Holding the breath consciously followed by complete exhalation helps to remove cellular waste efficiently.

The Benefits of Practicing Yoga

Why practice yoga? Is it to live longer, sleep better, alleviate stress, or simply to feel good? Whatever your reason is for wanting to practice yoga, there are many benefits to keep you going!

The benefits of yoga have been touted for thousands of years. Scientific studies have confirmed that a regular yoga practice can improve overall health and wellbeing. It's also sometimes prescribed by doctors as a therapeutic approach for chronic illness and injuries.

Not only can a regular yoga practice reward you with a healthy glow, but it can relieve fatigue and increase your energy levels. With a regular yoga practice, you'll wake up more refreshed and walk with a lighter step.

What are some of the other benefits of yoga? For starters, it stimulates your glands, increases your immune system and you'll recover from illness faster than someone who's a couch potato. If you get a cold, you may be able to shake it off a lot sooner than someone who doesn't practice yoga at all.

Yoga can reduce stress, and improve your focus, concentration and mood, especially if you take the time to meditate as well. Yoga can also help you to lose weight and shed inches, although the process is much slower than if you take on a more rigorous exercise program, such as aerobics or running. Adding a yoga practice to a cardiovascular workout, however, can improve balance and coordination. Many runners who do yoga improve their performance, especially while training for a marathon.

A regular yoga practice will help you to stand taller by improving your posture, and certain yoga poses counter the effects of aging on the spine. If practiced regularly and over time, some yoga poses can also build bone, prevent osteoporosis, and increase balance. This is especially important for women as they age.

The look and feel of your body will also change over time if you practice yoga regularly. You'll become stronger, your muscles will take shape, and your skin will improve. People may tell you that you look younger than you are. And you'll feel younger, too.

Yoga is known for its healing effects and can be used to manage back pain, breathing disorders such as asthma, and help with sinus conditions. Women in the throes of menopause can reap the benefits in more ways than one as some yoga poses are designed to prevent or manage hot flashes and minimize erratic mood swings.

If you keep to a regular yoga practice it will change your life for the better.

Yoga Marketing IS Yoga Teaching

I just got off the phone with a lovely client of mine, and we had a conversation about the teachers in her yoga studio. Her yoga business was struggling, and she was wondering if it had a little to do with the teacher situation. These are excellent, well-trained teachers who are being paid a flat, higher fee per class, however the dilemma is that the classes never seem to have more than a few students in them.

My thought on this is: if yoga teachers are being paid more, then that should be considered somewhat of an advertising expense for your yoga business. The goal of paying more qualified yoga teachers is that they bring with them value in the form of larger classes. If they aren't doing this, then the pay should reflect it.

My second thought is: teachers need to change their mindset on "marketing" their own classes. Marketing for a yoga teacher should not be scary or intimidating or "someone else's job." Yoga marketing, when done correctly, is basically an extension of your teaching. Or it should be.

The question is...what does being a "teacher" mean? To you, to your yoga studio, to your students? Does it mean running into class minutes before it starts, doing some asanas and giving some instructions, and then running out right after you're done? If it does, then really you are just an instructor. But over and over again, I hear this from studio owners. They have very highly-trained, very well-paid teachers acting just like this. I'm going to be blunt here: teachers like this really are a dime a dozen.

Let's look at a different perspective. Does teaching for you mean being a guide, an inspiration, and motivation for each and every student, wherever they are on their journey with yoga? These teachers are the ones who truly make a connection with their students, because their students feel cared for and led a little further on the path that they've chosen.

Here's a secret that I've learned from talking with many yoga studio owners and teachers across the country: the teachers who make the strongest connection with their students are the ones with the fullest classes and the most profitable yoga businesses. It's a fact. So you see, "marketing" is really just ensuring that you are making a strong connection with each and every student. You do this by chatting with your students before and after class about yoga and what they're learning. You learn their names and use them often. You know they're injuries, you know who needs adjustments. You make new students feel like the most welcomed guests. You check in on them outside of class to see if they need anything, you personally invite them to a class you think they'd like or a new workshop. One teacher said it best, "You aren't just there to teach them. You are there to love them."

Show some love to your students and they will reward you with their loyalty. They will fill your yoga classes and bring their friends. It's the easiest AND most effective yoga marketing technique there is!

Newport Beach Offers Free Fun Fitness

California's Newport Beach offers a lot of exercise options for those of you who are fitness-minded and love to train outdoors. No longer do you have to exercise in a gym with mirrored walls to "feel" like you're working out in a bigger place, and you never have to worry about being overcrowded or having to wait your turn for treadmills and exercise bikes. You can do yoga, cardio, circuit train, and even work in some weightlifting if you're creative and have a partner.

Beach yoga is becoming very popular in Newport Beach with entire classes being taught by certified instructors. Doing yoga in the sand helps improve your balance and coordination. Plus, you may feel considerably more connected with nature and the environment by doing yoga outdoors rather than doing the same work in a studio. On the beach, you can hear ocean waves crashing and seagulls squawking, and you can feel the sea breeze as you stretch and pose.

Beach cardio options include walking, jogging, jumping rope, running, and sprinting. You can do some of the slower cardio like walking, jogging, and jumping rope on the boardwalk, and you can do faster cardio like running and sprinting along the water's edge where there are less people and more room. The great thing about these options is that the only equipment you need is a pair of running shoes. If you're looking for an added challenge, you can also use light ankle weights.

Circuit training on the beach combines high-intensity cardio like running and sprinting with strength-training exercises like push-ups and sit-ups. This type of exercise program is great for weight loss and adding muscle: simply by controlling how many calories you consume daily, you can do the same exercises to lose body fat and excess weight or gain muscle size and strength. If you decide to circuit train, you should set a fitness goal before starting your program and adjust your diet accordingly.

Weightlifting on the beach may seem like a challenge because you can't just drag big, bulky exercise machines with you wherever you go. Some beaches, like Muscle Beach in Venice, California, offer weight-training and bodybuilding facilities. Unfortunately, Newport Beach is not yet so well-equipped. But if you are creative and have an exercise partner that shares your fitness goals, you can do hardcore push-ups, sit-ups, and even pull-ups by providing each other with added weight resistance.

Don't assume Newport Beach is just for 4th of July fireworks and volleyball. If you let yourself think outside of the box when it comes to exercise and fitness, you can quickly turn the beach into your favorite new gym.

How Your Exercise Can Be Holistic Therapy

Exercise is medicine, and it has therapeutic effects on our bodies. If you build your exercise practice on a holistic foundation, it can provide therapy to your whole body.

Three Elements of Exercise.

An exercise program must include these three elements to be considered holistic. You must practice cardiovascular conditioning, strength-training, and stretching.

If you favor one of these types of exercise, then some part of your body is not getting the movement that it needs. There are health benefits that are unique to each type of exercise. And practicing one type of exercise a lot will not compensate for a lack in other areas.

Holistic health from elemental exercise.

As mentioned above, each of the elements of exercise offers unique health benefits. By skimping on one, we deprive our bodies of those. But by practicing all three, we are guaranteed great health because we treat all of our body's systems. This holistic approach enables our exercise work-outs to provide therapy to our bodies.

First, cardio work-outs offer a boost to the blood flow that cannot be matched by stretching or strengthening. Neither yoga's hand-stands, nor supersets in bodybuilding, can offer the whole-body effects on circulation (and lymphatic immunity) that can be found in a quick jog or brisk walk. Furthermore, aerobic activities lasting just 20 minutes or more have long-lasting effects.

Next, strengthening, also called resistance-training or weight-lifting, has its own unique qualities. Our lifestyles today are especially deprived of its therapy, as overworked muscles become injury-prone. With proper strengthening, we can easily erase many of the strains felt from our workloads and habits.

Last, stretching, or flexibility training, provides its own set of health benefits. If your practice includes yoga, you might also include some meditation. So, your mind expands along with your muscles and joints.

Strength Training Helps Men and Women Grow Taller

Strength training (also called resistance training) develops the shape of your muscles to help grow taller. Here shape means the muscle has a definite outline; it's not all over the place. Strength training also develops and maintains muscular strength and endurance, develops muscle mass, stimulates bone density (which helps prevent osteoporosis), and reduces body fat to grow taller.

Fit Bodies Have Definition; The word definition refers to the shapeliness of one's muscles. When your body has excess fat on it, it looks bulky and out of shape. Fat lacks definition, and it can be all over the place-your belly wobbles, your thighs are flabby, and your upper arms jiggle. In comparison, muscle has shape. Women are often afraid of lifting weights because they think it's unladylike or not natural.

However, unless you decide to spend hours and hours lifting very heavy weights, you will not get bulky. First of all, women do not have enough natural testosterone to produce major muscle size. And secondly, men build bulk only if they spend many hours each week lifting extremely heavy weights. As you will learn, there are many other ways to lift weights that will not produce such an effect to grow taller. Question? Is it true that muscle weighs more than fat? Yes, but not much more, and at the same time, muscle takes up less space than the same weight of fat, and muscle also burns more calories than fat.

So, don't worry about muscle weight. It's good for you. Strength training exercises isolate muscles and muscle groups, and, as mentioned previously, builds muscular strength and endurance to grow taller. Muscular strength and endurance enable you to perform such tasks as carrying groceries and suitcases, taking out the trash, moving light boxes of papers or small pieces of furniture, picking up children or pets, or assisting older adults.

Improvements in muscular strength cause the body to burn more calories, even at rest. Strength Training and Overload Activities to Grow Taller; Strength training exercises include weight training, calisthenics, and sometimes activities like yoga or ballet to grow taller. We stimulate muscle growth by applying the overload principle, pushing your muscles a bit beyond what they are accustomed to. To strengthen muscles, we have the muscles experience resistance, or an opposing force.

The terms resistance training and strength training are used interchangeably, and simply mean the process (just described) used to produce strength; the term weight training refers to using weight or weights as a form of resistance that produces gains in strength to grow taller. No Weights Required, A muscle gets stronger when it is stressed, i.e., when it is asked to work harder than it is used to.

This occurs because the stress creates microscopic tears in the muscle, and then when the muscle is given time to rest afterward, it knits itself back together to become stronger and better than ever. Muscle doesn't necessarily have to lift more weight to be challenged and grow taller.

If you lift your arm to the side right now and try to hold it up gracefully like a ballerina, you'll notice that after just a few seconds, your arm begins to feel tired. And that's because you don't normally hold your arm that way, so your arm is being "stressed." If you continued to hold your arm up that way, oh, let's say, for 10 minutes a day, in about a week your arm would feel stronger, and it wouldn't be as difficult for you to repeat this exercise to grow taller during the next week. Your arm would be stronger even though you didn't lift a weight. The point is that you can build muscle without lifting weight. Ballerinas do it, gymnasts do it, and all kinds of other athletes become stronger in the very specific ways they challenge their muscles.

For example, runners build strong legs; swimmers build strong backs, arms, and legs; and bowlers build one strong arm. Sounds silly, but it's true. Strength-training Equipment; Again, the most common way for a person to build strength is to lift weights, specifically dumbbells, barbells, or weights on weight machines. But you can use medicine balls, elastic bands, and even soup cans or bottles of water to lift weight and grow taller.

Dumbbells are small weights. You typically can hold one in one hand, although you use two of them together so that you can have one in each hand to work your body evenly to grow taller. Dumbbells can be anywhere from 1 pound to above 50, but most women stick to weights between 5 and 15 pounds. After that, it's pretty much easier to use either barbells or machines. Men go up to higher weights.

Essential Adjustable ankle weights wrap around your ankle and are secured by a Velcro strip. You change the workload by either adding or removing cylinder-shaped weights from the weight pockets. Ankle weights make leg exercises possible without machines. You can perform the leg extension exercise and the leg curl exercise on the exercise ball to grow taller. The price of ankle weights ranges from $20 to $50.

Dumbbells are available at gyms, of course, but because they don't take up a lot of space, you can keep them in your house. They are infinitely versatile, allowing you to work almost any muscle. Also, because they start at very small weights and aren't that expensive, you can start light and pretty quickly increase the weight as you need to. Using dumbbells is the easiest way for someone to build strength and lose weight to grow taller.

You can do the workout at your house, strengthen your whole body with just eight exercises to grow taller, and see differences-seriously-with just a few workouts. In just two weeks, you'll really see a difference. Think of a rubber band. If you pull it back between two fingers, you eventually get to a point where you can't stretch the rubber band anymore. Exercise bands, which are basically long strips of elastic of varying colors and tension levels, function as sources of resistance just as the rubber band does.

When you use an elastic band you put one end in your hand, or around a chair, or under your foot, and then pull the band. The other end is secure, so the band provides the resistance. Your body will respond to bands in the same way it does to weights, i.e., you will build muscle and gain strength to grow taller.

Many people believe the bands are less likely to build bulk, but that isn't true. The reality is that unless you are a man using very heavy weights, then the muscular changes will be the same no matter what you use to build strength. Bands come in a variety of resistance levels; some are hard to stretch and others are fairly easy. Each manufacturer uses a different color to signify the bands' resistance level.

Some bands are flat and wide, while others are more like tubes with handles on the ends. The handles make them easier to hold. Bands and tubes are not exact equivalents of weights, so you can't use a green tube and assume it is equal to 5 pounds, for example, or a dark blue band for 10 pounds. Weights are much more exact than bands, but that doesn't mean they are more effective or better. It really is just a matter of choice and preference. Bands are inexpensive and effective, easy to store, and, for many people,-easier to use to grow taller and less intimidating than weights. Question? Is it possible to spot reduce? No. Spot reduction, the idea that you can just burn off the fat and sculpt the muscles in one area just the way you want to, is a myth.

There is no guarantee that weight will come off where you want it to, or that your body will change with exercise in just the way you want it to. However, you can do specific resistance exercises to grow taller and to shape certain body parts, which will help you create the body as close as possible to the one of your dreams. Medicine balls, which have been around since ancient Greece, are one of today's hottest fitness tools.

They are now made from recycled materials, sand, and ground-up stones and bolts encased in leather or synthetic rubber. They weigh anywhere from 2 pounds to 35 pounds, and can be as small as a softball, bigger than a basketball, and in between. They cost between $15 and $150. So how can this ball make you fit? As you throw and catch this round weight every which way, it builds muscles of the chest, stomach, back, arms, shoulder, legs, and hips to grow taller.

Medicine-ball exercises are fun and seem more like play, yet you can get aerobic exercise and build strength and flexibility to grow taller. Having a partner is helpful, but you can use them alone too. You can exercise with them outdoors or indoors, but when indoors, make sure you have a clear space near you. One caution is to start with the lightweight balls; even they provide plenty of resistance.

Gym Versus Home; When you head to a gym, everything you might need for a workout is usually right there: dumbbells; weight machines; cardio equipment; aerobics, Spinning, yoga, and Pilates classes; and even a place to stretch to grow taller. When you're at home, chances are you don't have a house full of weights and machines- not to mention a nearby trainer-allowing you to work each muscle exactly the way you should. Gym workouts are not necessarily more effective than home workouts.

Not everyone feels comfortable exercising in front of strangers, and if you're one of those people, then creating a home gym might guarantee you'll get your strength training in to grow taller. Also, if time is an issue, keep in mind that it always takes time to get yourself to the gym. Creating a Home Gym to Grow Taller; A basic home gym requires an exercise ball, dumbbells, a step bench for step aerobics (which can double as a weight bench for women), a yoga mat, and some DVDs. Of course, you can spend from very little to quite a lot on creating a home gym. Here are some of your options:

Cost
Cardio
Strength
Core Strength/ Relax
Free
Walk/run
No-weight exercises
Yoga
Cheap
Jump rope
Dumbbells
Physio ball
Inexpensive
Step bench
Barbell
Pilates DVDs
Bells and whistles
Bicycle
Weight bench
Bosu ball
Top of the line
Treadmill
Weight machine
Pilates reformer

Even if you don't want to create an official home gym, it's a good idea to have at least some equipment and workout DVDs around for days when you can't get to the gym or go outside. For less than $100, you can always be ready to substitute a home workout for your regular walk, trip to the gym, or swim at the pool to grow taller. And the benefits of the cross-training will help your overall fitness level. High Weights/Low Reps Versus Low Weights/High Reps Imagine two people. One is a man, the other a woman.

They both stand in front of the free weights at their gym. They are both going to do overhead presses; in other words, they'll hold a dumbbell in each hand with a bent elbow at their shoulders, then straighten their arms and lift the weight over their heads to grow taller. The man holds a total of 30 pounds; the woman lifts 8. He does 8 repetitions, while the woman, who only has 4 pounds in each hand, does 18 repetitions.

They are both tired at the end of their sets. Which one has done the correct workout? Traditionally, men have lifted larger weights and done fewer reps for a combination of reasons. First, men are naturally stronger, and so they can lift heavier weights. Men also tend to want to make strength gains to grow taller. For example, a man in a gym might want to become stronger, and thus hopes to eventually lift heavier weights as he progresses, while a woman simply wants to reshape her muscles and doesn't really care about being stronger.

Early in the research, women were advised to lift lighter weights and do more reps to make some sort of strength gain. But that really didn't work. The truth is, women should do the same number of reps and sets as men, and use a weight that works for them, which will be less than what men use simply because of basic muscle strength to grow taller. For you to determine how much weight to use, you have to try out each exercise and see what weight will bring you to failure within the number of exercises you're doing to grow taller.

In terms of relative strength, the woman may make great gains to grow taller-getting much stronger than she used to be-but she will never get big like a man, nor will she lift as much as a man. There are specific training programs using very heavy weights and low reps for body builders, but for your purposes, basic strength-training programs will work for both men and women to grow taller.

Essential To create strength gains in your muscles to grow taller, you need to work to failure, which means your muscle cannot do one more repetition. Failure doesn't mean that your muscle doesn't work anymore; it simply means that you have forced it to do as much work as it can do right now, and that it is ready to rest. And, as it rests, it rebuilds itself, thus getting stronger and shapelier. Safety; Weight training is a safe activity, but it has the potential for danger because the equipment you're using weighs a lot.

Drop a weight on your toe, and it will hurt! Twist the wrong way while holding a weight, and you will pull a muscle. Lift too much weight, and you'll hurt yourself so much that you won't be lifting for a while. Stabilize your body weight and keep an erect back to grow taller, not arching or swaying.-Think of a cord coming out of the top of your head and pulling your entire spine erect. For most of the standing exercises, your feet should be shoulder-width apart.

Rarely will an upright exercise call for your feet to be close together or touching each other. That is a sure way to lose balance. As a general rule, you should exercise larger muscles before smaller ones. Smaller muscles help the larger muscles perform their work; if they are too exhausted from being worked out, the larger muscles will not be able to work as hard and grow taller.

Never weight train the same muscle group on two successive days. If you exercised your arms on Monday, do not work the arms again until Wednesday. Remember, this rest period is the time when muscle fibers repair and come back even stronger. If you want to strength train six days a week, then split up your routine so that rest and recovery can occur on different muscle groups to grow taller.

Expectations of a 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification Course

There are two sets of expectations for a 500 hour Yoga instructor certification course. There are the expectations of the teachers who are guiding interns enrolled in the course. There are also a set of expectations on the part of the student, who is choosing a particular 500 hour Yoga teacher training course. Of course, a student must choose a training program wisely and make sure the curriculum and goals of the Yoga instructor training course matches his or her professional and personal aspirations. This article will briefly address those expectations of a student who enrolls in a training program.

Enhance Qualities of Character and Commitment

A Yoga student who enrolls in a professional level, 500 hour Yoga certification course will obtain a deep abiding level of dedication. This commitment to the inner and outer transformation is due to the cleansing effects of Yoga. A student who enrolls in a professional Yoga teacher training course will learn through personal experience of the profound impact within a regular and sustained practice of Yogic techniques and disciplines. The student must also apply him or herself to the thorough study or anatomy, physiology, the subtleties of asana sequencing, Yoga as therapy, the power of mudras, bandhas, chakras, mantras, advanced meditation, and pranayama techniques.

Through sustained practice and focus, the prospective Yoga instructor will become more aware of his or her strengths and weaknesses as a Yoga teacher trainee. This profound Yogic experience may be humbling and at the same time it is a method for reaching states of clarity. A Yoga instructor trainee must stick with this process while learning how to develop and strengthen areas of weaknesses. Interns learn how to balance strength and weakness as a prospective Yoga teacher.

Living Yoga in the World

A student who enrolls in a 500 hour Yoga instructor certification course will ultimately learn how to integrate the experience of Yoga, both on and off the mat. A professional level Yoga teacher training program will bring a student's personal life into alignment with the basic Yogic tenets taught by Pantanjali. These are the tenets one learns within the Yoga Sutras, such as: self-inquiry, not stealing and truthfulness. If a prospective Yoga teacher does not integrate his or her Yogic experiences, wisdom and guidelines into his or her home life, the rasa or bliss of Yoga will slip through the teacher trainee's hands and will reduce his or her ability to uplift and impact future Yoga students in a positive way.

Total Astral Projection

What is Astral Projection and What Are the Best Conditions for this Strange Experience?

Astral projection also known as the out-of-body experience and as "soul travel" by some groups, can happen to anyone at any time in one's life. Astral projection is often confused with lucid or vivid dreaming and most skeptics would say that what most people would experience as an out-of-body experience is just a dream. Even though it is quite common for an astral projection experience to be immediately proceeded by a vivid dream or even be mixed up with or embedded within dreams, when one has a full-blown out-of-body astral experience, it is often so real, so vivid and clear that in no way, shape or form is it considered by the experiencer as just being a dream. Genuine astral projection is experienced as a fully awakened state outside the body, and the person is able to actually see, usually from a strange angle, his or her usually still or lifeless looking body lying down on the bed, sofa or couch. One is able to see minute details in the room and travel anywhere else conceivable and watch events and discover new places and/or previously lost or undiscovered items that can later be confirmed.

Certain Tibetan masters and Indian yogi masters throughout history have developed the ability to fully conscious astral project at will and as a result of this awesome faculty, many other special powers too. A contemporary example is Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath who because I have met personally and directly experienced his amazing aura of energy (darshan), I may have seen a few times in the astral as there were some instances of this great yogi's presence appearing during my sleep and in deep meditation. Other such great masters of astral projection in the past include Paramhansa Yogananda, Sri Yukteswar, Rabindranath Tagore who came back speaking through the ectoplasm of direct voice medium, Leslie Flint (1960's?) regarding his experiences with astral travel and general information regarding power of thought, and the transmigrated Tibetan Lama, Tuesday Lobsang Rampa in the body of Cyril Henry Hoskin. Rampa provided the most outstanding descriptions and knowledge of astral projection, however he was also apparently the author of some of the most controversial books I ever read.

The Right Conditions for Astral Projection and How 100% Safe, Natural Astral Projection Can be Induced

The right conditions for conscious astral projection are tricky to master. To start with it is very helpful to learn meditation and train the body to increase concentration on the inner self (third eye) and withdrawing away from the external senses, while calming down one's breathing and slowing down heart rate toward 40 beats per minute. Celibacy is quite essential, otherwise it can be very hard trying to maintain the constant enthusiasm and concentration required for the successful completion of this project which involves the process of slowing metabolic rate and fully replacing all physical activity, physical thought, awareness, and consciousness with internal spiritual awareness to the point that the physical becomes quite numb, cold, still and lifeless. Only then in such a deep state of trance does it become possible to consciously leave the body at will. Such an attainment of this nature is quite profound, vital and priceless, because such an ability leads to a complete mastery over the very powers of life, death and reincarnation. It is extremely unfortunate that during this present age, that the overall tendency of humankind is too much external, way too much sensuality, and too much into the physical world and physical senses. It is this overall tendency or tendencies that are causing so much pain, so much skepticism against spiritual truths, confusion and suffering in the world. This grave concern is the main reason why I am taking so much of my time to create this website.

Spontaneous astral projection during deep sleep is much more common and more accessible by some. The odds of astral travel occurring during deep sleep can be improved by some form of vigorous physical exercise near end of day so that muscles are no longer restless and are therefore more prone to relaxation. In early evening after a light dinner (or sometimes even a fast depending on individual need) one should practice a little yoga and do some meditation before sleeping. Start actual night time period of rest or sleep with a deep relaxation posture while concentrating on every muscle in body to completely relax, withdrawing energy from each and every muscle to all the spinal centers and then up to third eye. Try to remain wide-awake while body falls asleep. If this does not work, (usually takes several weeks of practice) set alarm at 3:00 or 4:00 AM, get up and exercise for 15 minutes at that time and then follow the same deep relaxation routine leading to a wide-awake yet fully asleep effect. What should happen is a deep internalization of awareness along with a state of temporary paralysis (catalepsy) and a terrific vibration and/or intense tingling sensation that can seem way too intense to stand. In this vibrational state, it becomes possible to split away from the body and further away one gets the less vibration one feels until one is several feet away and some can observe a silver cord between the physical and astral or etheric self. It becomes possible then to move about the room by concentration on where one wants to go. It takes much practice at first to learn how to control the astral body which is much like the life of a newborn child which has yet to learn how to walk and run, etc.

There is absolutely no danger or ever any real reason to fear astral projection or even death for that matter. If one has to die then death involves simply taking up a much more permanent residence at one's true home in one of the astral spheres. Fear during the first few attempts at astral travel is a huge problem and will often find one's self slammed right back into the physical body under the slightest provocation of fear and/or even thinking of the physical. Death can never be caused by astral projection, however the process of dying is often the greatest opportunity ever for astral projection! There are countless worlds in the afterlife that are filled with vast wonders and opportunities of all kinds. For those who are good natured, kind hearted and full of love (most people are) the afterlife is simply wonderful and filled with unspeakable beauty, great love, awesome bliss, great music and great adventures.

As long as no illicit drugs are involved, astral projection is a 100% natural, 100% safe and 100% blissful occurrence. Astral projection is an expression of the conscious freedom of the soul while the physical body is in a temporarily state of suspended animation and slowed down or "hibernating" metabolism. The more often one can induce this temporary "death" of the physical, the sooner one becomes an adept or master over the otherwise terrible whims of life and death.

The Various Forms of Astral Projection: From Traveling Clairvoyance to Complete Immersion on Astral Plane

There are various forms of astral projection. The simplest is remote viewing, which really is a form of traveling clairvoyance as a fragment of one's self senses events and scenes from a remote location while the remote viewer sits in a darkened room in a light state of trance. While meditating in my darkened apartment one morning, I could actually see within my mind's eye (or third eye?) a clear image of some contractors working on the roof of a small house. It had a chimney and it appeared like there were up to seven contractors working on the construction of a new roof. At first I assumed I must have been picking up a scene from the astral plane (happens to me sometimes) of astral workers creating an astral building (does happen on some of the astral worlds). It was not until after I stopped meditating, and while on the way to get my mail, I happened to notice a small house going up right next to my apartment complex with the same contractors working on the same roof with chimney, etc! It is experiences like these that prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt about their reality. Experiences of remote viewing, though rare and hard to repeat, are real as day.

A deeper form of remote viewing occurs when the soul is aware in two places at once, behind the physical eyes and from within the astral viewpoint. This effect does happen and illustrates the fact that as long as the physical body remains alive, the soul stays behind with the body while its etheric double goes around and about which the soul also keeps in touch with. Another form of astral travel is actually the out-of-body experience where one is aware mainly of the etheric counterpart of the earth plane and can perceive, even sometimes feel (but not actually touch or pick up except under very rare conditions) all the things most closely associated with Earth. Actual astral projection is travel in the higher spheres above the earth plane where one is in the astral counterpart (or duplicate) of one's physical body and can meet friends and loved ones who either have passed over or are also asleep, dreaming and/or astral traveling!

There have been some documented cases where one has actually seen while wide awake physically someone else's etheric double (or doppelganger) standing in the same room often to say "goodbye" to a loved one if while in grave danger and/or dying or simply while astral projecting. In the book, Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda there are several instances of yogis traveling in their astral bodies either while still physically living or even after their deaths who were able to fully appear in a solid form in front of various witnesses. For example read The Resurrection of Sri Yukteswar and wonder about that. Paramhansa Yogananda never had any personal reason(s) or inclinations to ever lie or deceive others.

I personally had someone come visit me in the astral while I was in a deep relaxation trance in my early twenties. This person's energy was so intense it pulled me out of my body through my heart center! Then when I saw this guy sitting with his normal clothes on in a meditation posture right in front of me, I had no idea whatsoever that he was there because he had just died! The entire experience can be found on my free e-book The Science of Wholeness, "Lesson 14" at paragraph 14.7: Death, Enlightenment, Bliss and Resurrection. I know for sure these things are real, and when one has a paranormal experience, there is no denying it whatsoever, it happened!

The wise yogi learns how to calm his breath, slow down his heartbeat and withdraw his physical energy deep into the spinal centers and then ultimately deep into the third eye where he can "die daily" with full ability to leave his body at will just as one can leave one's vehicle by simply opening the door and walking out of it. The late Indian poet and master of yoga, Rabindranath Tagore who came back speaking through the ectoplasm of direct voice medium, Leslie Flint very clearly explains his life-long interest in astral projection and how he mastered it and the unspeakable beauty of the higher spheres that he now lives on. Unless one has (perhaps in a past life) previously learned it, astral projection is never something one can simply learn overnight and then do for recreation or entertainment. It is rather a serious undertaking requiring total commitment. Astral projection is a spiritual enrichment practice and not something one should do only for materialistic, sensual, selfish or mundane reasons, as such low levels of intention and/or consciousness would be unwise and make it much harder to achieve any worthwhile results.

Why You Should Choose A Thicker Yoga Mat

As a keen yoga enthusiast, you should realize that a thick yoga mat is what you need since it eliminates whatever fear you might have while training some of the more daring and often challenging yoga postures. It also provides you with the extra cushioning to help you focus on your yoga workouts or lessons being taught in class.

A thicker mat has another great advantage and that is it helps to prevent your body joints from feeling really sore whenever you have to sit at certain poses for quite a long time. Lots of people who accomplished a number of yoga positions that used deep breathing exercises and leg crossing no longer feel their ankles hurt like before after training on a thick mat. First timers usually tend to require them more than the seasoned yogis.

What Types of Mats Suit You?

There is a large choice of some of the best yoga mats available in the market like ultra thick ones, eco yoga mat, sticky yoga mats, rubber yoga mat. However what kind of mat that you should get for yourself all depends on your own needs.

Apart from the very thick ones that we have discussed the preferred one is the travel mat which caters to individuals who travel a good deal but who still like to be able to continue doing their yoga routines while traveling. Such yoga mats are specially designed thin for the ease of the traveler so that during transit and carrying it from one country to another will not be too difficult for him. However you should not expect the same degree of cushioning provided in these travel mats. Due to the thinness in which they are made, they are excellent to place on carpet floors in the hotel of the vacationer. A good number of people also found the use of towels help in giving that extra cushioning on the hard floor.

The travel mat also has a lot of colors and sizes to choose from although to help you decide you should always think about what sort of yoga exercises are usually practiced by you. A favorite of numerous travelers and holiday planners are the Pilate mats because they are the most suitable. They also give high performance and are also comfortable and light. Even when they are not very thick mat, their surface is well designed to stop you from sliding off the mat.
