Yoga Retreat

Yoga Retreat To Restore and Rejuvenate

Yoga holidays and Yoga Retreats are becoming more and more popular and for anyone contemplating their next holiday in the sun they are a seriously good choice. This is especially true if you are tired, a bit jaded with what seems like a never ending stream of demands and want to do something a bit different to just lying around on the beach soaking up sun rays - that aren't very good for you anyway!

A Yoga holiday is a package that offers you a relaxing time with daily yoga sessions, lovely food and a lot of free time to spend as you wish in a beautiful environment. Often other excursions will be arranged for you if you want them. These are usually held in very lovely locations within easy reach of attractions and activities that you can enjoy while you have your time off. It is a great alternative to that sea side holiday with enough health and fitness thrown in to make you feel good about yourself and know that you have used the holiday time very constructively.

A Yoga retreat is a bit different. This is a more intense, though no less relaxing, package where yoga practice is a focus for the time but other sessions will be included as well as time off for personal activities. The other sessions will probably take the form of workshops about some aspects of self exploration so that you have time and structured space to really explore your life, any new direction you might be thinking of and also take into account the spiritual aspects of yourself. It is a time for rethinking, reconsidering, taking stock, forward planning..... So iIt is a journey within as well as having time in a lovely environment. Some of the time will be spent in meditation and the form of yoga that is being used by the Retreat leader will depend on their own training. Make sure you know and enjoy the style of yoga they are offering. If you want a gentle flowing yoga it is better not to chose a very active Ashtanga or Iyengar retreat! The Retreats are often held in beautiful locations though may be a bit less centred around other attractions and more focused on the actual retreat environment being beautiful, healing and restoring in its nature.

A Yoga Retreat can be a chance to get off the hamster wheel of life and really re-think your lifestyle options. A yoga holiday can also help you get out of the rat race for a bit and have a wonderful holiday with a nice group of people with a shared interest. In both cases you are likely to meet very congenial people and form some great friendships. So, while you are thinking of your next holiday as the new year starts to gather momentum and suddenly summer holidays become the topic of conversation, spare a thought for your Yoga practice and have a look at what is on offer these days.
