Learn How to Sing

Singing and making music are more popular than ever. A lot of people want it but few do it. Today it's time to stop wanting and start learning. Because let's face it, even the best singers were bad at some point. You just have to swallow your pride and start singing. Here are a few tips and tricks to get you started on the right foot.

Be healthy

It isn't a deal breaker but it helps if you're healthy. It gives you more air during singing and helps you to maintain your stamina. Start eating healthy snack and only drink water or tea. Exercising helps too. Start jogging or cycling. It will help you to control your breathing, which is the most important aspect of singing.

Do breathing exercises

I said it before and I will say it again: air is important while you're singing. Remember the long notes will only last as long as your breath does. So do breathing exercises right away. Your goal is to breath properly, using your belly. Here's one exercise that will help your singing a lot:

- Take a long deep breath lasting 3 seconds. Hold it in 2 counts. Exhale for 3 seconds and again hold for a few counts. Now blow the remaining air out.

Try to manage your air, make sure you still have some left for the final blow. Do this 3 sets of 5, every day.

Do Yoga

Yoga is a major breathing exercise and great for battling stress and emotional pain. Stress and pain aren't good for your voice, trust me. Do yoga 3 times per week for 20 minutes. I can recommend YogaMazing by Chaz Rough. It's a weekly video free from the iTunes store.

Record yourself

I love keeping track of numbers and results and you should too. Therefore choose between 2 and 6 songs ranging from easy to difficult. You must sing these songs once per month and record it. Why once per month? Well you won't notice progress on weekly basis unless you really know what you're doing. And it's easy to keep track of the recording dates because you could say that you will record yourself on the first day of each month.

Warm up

Your voice is like a car. It works right away but it's just not quite right without warming it up first. So do some casual singing before starting your training. Sing some high notes, low notes and everything in between. Make sure it remains casual though, you don't want to strain your voice.

I hope these tricks will help you in your practice. Just start singing and don't expect results right away. It just doesn't work that way. Practice, practice, practice and you'll be singing beautifully in no time.
