2009 is here and people across the country are going to start flooding gyms and paying hundreds of dollars to use complex, expensive equipment.
Is this a good idea? Well considering most these people will stop going to the gym in about 2 months...I don't think so. These days with hectic schedules it's a better idea to get more convenient workouts at home.
After a couple years of trying different systems I discovered that it's not only possible to get in shape without driving to a gym every day...you can actually get in BETTER shape without one.
Here's the secret: Using your own bodyweight for resistance training rather than a complex machine or dumbells. Not only is it more convenient, the exercises are more natural and healthier for your joints.
Here's one you can try right now: The classic yoga position Downward Dog, which works your entire upper body and stretches out your legs. Now you might think something out of yoga isn't going to give you a good workout, but nothing could be further from the truth - but the best test is to find out for yourself right now.
All you have to do is get on your knees, stretch your hands out in front of you on the floor, and rise up onto your hands and feet. Stick your rear end as high as you can. Do your best to keep your elbows and knees straight. Your head should be down and looking at your feet.
You'll soon see the reason why it's called Downward Dog - you look just like a dog or cat when it stretches out after waking up from a nap. Maintain this position for about a minute and you will feel the benefits. Keep it up for 28 days and you will SEE the benefits.
