Would You Love To Become A Yoga Instructor

With the rising popularity of yoga there have been many people who start out as students then become so inspired with the practice that they leave their day jobs to become certified teachers. The teacher training program involves a long process of studying under teachers and in-depth knowledge about theories and philosophies. It takes a lot of patience, commitment and dedication but the rewards are very high.

The minimum requirement to become a yoga instructor is that first the person should have practiced for several years already under the person that he proposes to train with. He must also be able to do a hand stand in the middle of the room to prove his level of skills and expertise in the poses. Most instructors teach yoga classes as a second job mainly because they love practicing it and sharing their knowledge with other enthusiasts. The Yoga Alliance in the United States is the organization responsible for giving certifications for becoming instructors. There are two types of certificates? The 200 hour and 500 hour certificates. Most studios only require their instructors to have a 200 hour completion certificate to be able to hold classes. Once a person has completed his Yoga Alliance registered teacher training program he can now put an RYT after his name which stands for Registered Yoga Teacher. Some more specialized schools like the Baptiste Power, Bikram, Iyengar, and Anusara require that that their yoga teachers complete the program under their own auspices.

The teacher training includes lesson planning, techniques in teaching poses, Pranayama, meditation, mantras, and teaching techniques that concern correcting poses, guiding, assisting, and encouraging students as they go through the sessions. This program also includes ethical and moral guidelines for the teacher.

Once the person has decided what he wants to teach and what kind of teacher he wants to be it is time to look for a program. The first place to look is at his own yoga studio because most of them offer teacher-training programs. One just has to make sure that it is registered under the Yoga Alliance. Once the training has started the student has to be prepared to undergo a specified number of hours studying asana, teaching techniques, anatomy, and philosophy. The cost for this training program starts at $3000 and programs can last between two months to one year depending on the number of times the student attends classes. Namast?.
