Hike Diamond Head
Located on the southeast coast of Oahu, not far from Waikiki, Diamond Head is one of the world's best-known volcanic craters. The view from the 760-ft. summit is well worth the climb. The steep trail to the top is mostly paved and includes two sets of stairs. One is 99 steps, the other 76 steps. They lead to a 225-foot tunnel (bring a flashlight) and end with a spectacular view of the island's west side. This is also an excellent spot for whale watching during the winter months.
Check Out the Lookout
You don't want to leave Oahu without taking a drive on the Pali Highway. The road cuts through a lush rainforest, providing stunning views from its famous Nu`uanu Pali Lookout. From this windswept vantage point, the villages of Windward Oahu, the sparkling sweep of Kaneohe Bay, and the crystal blue surface of the Pacific spread for miles below. Less than a half hour from Waikiki, the Lookout is a perfect place to gain an overall perspective on this tropical paradise.
See Humpback Whales (Every year, thousands of humpback whales leave their summer feeding grounds in Alaska and set off for Hawaii. Some arrive as early as September and most will have completed the 3,000-mile journey in time for Christmas. Yoga Hawaii in the Kaimuki district of Honolulu is home to sincere yoga practitioners of all ages, sizes, shapes and fitness levels. We are a community that believes that all yoga styles ultimately lead to stillness, an experience of deep peace, and a returning back to Source energy.
So after your Surfing session you can go soak up some Yoga. They offer three main tracks of hatha yoga study: a gentle track (Yoga Basics), a more vigorous one (Vinyasa Flow) and a very athletic form of yoga (Ashtanga), depending on your personal inclination. The classes are taught in the traditional style of the yoga masters, and include pranayama and meditation. Our focus is on bringing each student along to his or her fullest expression of these ancient practices, based on each individual's goal and aspirations. The tracks are complementary; some students choose to take classes in each track, mixing and matching as needed.
- Yoga Basics - These hatha yoga classes are perfect for learning correct breathing methods, alignment and technique in a wide range of postures (asanas). You will move through a well-rounded selection of poses that will invigorate, rejuvenate and restore the body, mind and spirit.
- Vinyasa Flow - Vinyasa is a joining or linking mechanism, and these classes feature flowing sequences of postures that can be modified based on your experience level. The body becomes heated from the inside, allowing more flexibility and purification to transpire.
- Ashtanga Yoga( - Ashtanga Yoga is known to be the most vigorous of the hatha yoga
styles, which brings an element of aerobic athleticism to these classes. Breath, vinyasa and focus are cultivated during the set series of poses. You are advised to work at your own level, using modifications when necessary.
