So you have decided you want to lose body fat and get in shape. What does it take? It takes a commitment to nutrition and training, that's what! Don't kid yourself, there's no magic trick out there. So why throw money at a bunch of useless gadgets or 'fad of the week' diet pills when the real 'magic formula' is simply to COMMIT.
What kinds of tools can you use to keep you committed? Here's a few of them:
Gym Membership: yes, it costs a bit of money to join a gym but the trade-off in this case is worth it (assuming you actually go to the gym and use the equipment). Sometimes knowing you've paid the money is motivation enough to get you there so that you don't have to feel like you've wasted the money you spent on it. Once you're actually there, the tools available to you at your gym will likely include aerobics, yoga, kickboxing classes (amongst other types of classes), free weights including barbells, dumbbells (and if you're really lucky, kettlebells), weight machines, cable machines, cardio machines (including treadmills, rowing machines, elliptical trainers), bosu and fitness balls, stretching areas... the list goes on and on. Just make sure you actually do schedule time to get to the gym and use this fantastic equipment available to you.
Personal Trainer: hiring a Personal Trainer can be a great tool to keep you committed. After all, they're going to give you a program best suited to your goals, and then they're going to see you on regularly scheduled occasions. They'll be expecting a report of your workouts since the last time you saw each other, as well as pushing you to your maximum potential during the workouts the trainer supervises you on.
Friends and Family: tell everyone and anyone who will listen about your goals and plans to reach your goals. You'd be surprised how interested and supportive people can be. Ask them to make you accountable. The more people you tell the more likely you are to stay committed, just out of the simple emotion of not wanting to let these people down by failing.
Internal Motivation: this one is all on you. Let's face it, true commitment comes from inside oneself. Only you have the final power and will to make it happen. Find that thing inside of you that you can use to drive yourself towards your goal, because it is in there, you just have to locate it and use it. And then never, ever take your eye off that goal.
Results: use any results you experience to inspire you and drive you even harder. Looking in the mirror or stepping on that scale and seeing a change for the better can be intensely motivating. The better you do, the more committed you will find yourself becoming. After all, results is what you want and when you get those results USE THEM to your advantage to get MORE results!
Good Luck! You can do it! The power to make it happen is yours!
