How to Create an Appealing Fitness Bootcamp

Like anyone running a business, a personal trainer should be constantly working to increase their client base. Remember, a business that's not growing is dying. That's why many trainers host their own fitness bootcamps. Which brings us to an important question about fitness bootcamps: how can you actually make money from them?

In simple terms: you make money by attracting as many clients to your bootcamp as possible. You then turn the people who attend your bootcamp into long-term clients, making even more money.

Figuring out how to do this is the real trick.

Create an Appealing Bootcamp

Your fitness bootcamp should be just as fun as it is effective. Working out, losing weight and getting in shape are things that most people will gladly jump into, but once they start feeling like work, you'll see them wanting to back out.

Make sure, then, to include a wide variety of activities in your camp. Establishing a sense of togetherness among your clients is important: the backbone of your bootcamp should be weight loss and strength-building exercises, but you should also throw in some team-building activities as well. Maybe you can break up the day with a full-court basketball game or an intense tag-team race. You are only limited by your own imagination.

Don't Overspend on your Marketing budget

A business should always try to minimize expenditures; it's only common sense. A good place to try trimming costs is marketing.

This isn't to say that you shouldn't market your bootcamp, though; quite the contrary, as your attendance will suffer unless you actively promote it. But you don't have to pay through the nose for it, either.

It all starts with your friends, family and existing client base: get them to get the word out about your upcoming bootcamp. Word-of-mouth advertising can be just as effective as any multimedia campaign. Tape flyers to the windows of local businesses and promote your event in local magazines and newspapers. The Internet can also help: try taking out an ad on Craigslist. All of these marketing strategies are free or inexpensive. Better yet, they're effective.

Consider Targeting Specific Niches

Another way to make money with a bootcamp is to hold multiple during the year that each target a select group of attendees. For instance, you might hold a bootcamp that focuses on stretching exercises, yoga and low-impact aerobics. [You can target this bootcamp toward seniors

Alternately, you could hold an intense strength-training bootcamp, targeted towards athletes or fitness buffs. Another option is fitness bootcamps to help people recover from injuries. As I said before, the sky's the limit.

Think of fitness bootcamps as another way you can improve and expand your business. If done right, these bootcamps can not only earn you a few extra dollars, but they can also provide a significant boost to your client base. Pay attention to these strategies and you may very well end up with your own successful, and profitable, fitness bootcamp!
