How Does Yoga Help in Managing Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease of uncontrolled sugar levels in the blood. This happens because the body cannot produce enough insulin hormones to take up the blood sugar or because the cells cannot use up the sugar available in the fluids around them.

It is either classified as type I or type II depending on the origin of the disease.

Type I diabetes is one that occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to take up the blood in the sugar. It is common among those who are born with it or genetically passed from one generation to another. Type I diabetes is found in children and may not be prevented. It is as a result of the failure in the genetic make of the individual that diminishes the ability of the cells responsible for taking up blood sugar to function. It can however be managed by taking insulin shots.

Type II diabetes mellitus is found among adults. It is developed as a result of lifestyles that either increase blood sugar to very high levels or reduce the functionality of the cells responsible for taking up the sugar in the blood. It is common among people who are overweight and those who do not have adequate exercises. It can be controlled by taking appropriate diet and adopting healthy lifestyle.

Enrolling in dahn yoga classes is an effective way of preventing or managing diabetes. This is because the physical exercises which are done in moderation help in burning the blood sugar. The training on having better self control in the dahn yoga classes also helps in managing the diet for better management of diabetes.

In both types of diabetes mellitus, the body would respond as if it is starved or really thirsty. This happens because the excess sugars in the blood would lead to lack of balance in the electrolyte fluids. The excess sugars in the blood would lead to increased osmotic pressure in the lymphatic fluids and blood serum.

The result of the excess blood sugar is osmotic imbalance. The water in the cells is drained out of the cells into the lymphatic system. As a result, the cells will be dehydrated leading to a feeling of being tired or thirsty. One is persuaded to take more water to quench the thirst yet the lymphatic system already has adequate amounts of the water.
